Beyond Redemption are a young 5 piece Metal band that were formed on March 22nd 2008 in the cellar of a house in Kidderminster by Matt Davis a.k.a Bev.The original line up was changed a few times but very quickly the core of the band was established with Josh Oliver a.k.a Budgie on Bass, Matt Sewell a.k.a Reaper on guitar, and Rob Smith on vocals. They set out to produce a unique sound by fusing styles from many different sub genres of Metal from 80’s style guitar riffs to Metalcore style vocals an approach that seems to work well and produce some epic sounds.
After much practice in the cellar they started gigging at 10 bar in Kidderminster in June 2008 with Jamie Bower on guitar. After just a couple of gigs Jamie was replaced with Rob Hayes on guitar and in this form the band got it’s first gig in Birmingham where they were well received and quickly built a reputation for putting on high octane adrenaline filled live performances. They continued to gig in Birmingham with an ever growing fan base up to the point where they had to start putting coaches on to get their local fans to out of town gigs. This continued until Christmas of 2008 when Rob Hayes decided to leave the band due to work commitments.
The start of 2009 saw a lot of hard work auditioning guitarists including one false start when they thought they had found someone who didn’t work out. Mid February and the decision was taken to take on Alex Busby as the new guitarist and then within three short but intense weeks the band was in the studio recording their debut E.P “The Reckoning” which will be released on March 14th at The Old Wharf in Birmingham although it has already received some good reviews and was well received when it was previewed on air by one internet radio station.
At present the band has a pretty busy calendar for 2009 with gigs around the Midlands including being chosen to perform at the Rock Against Child Pornography concert in Birmingham on 23rd May 2009 which is a great honour to be able to help raise awareness for the guys who do all the work at R.A.C.P. Later in the year more recording is planned and another release hopefully before Christmas.

Wyrd Ways Rock Show is now up. Bit of a remembrance vibe to this one. Not only for fallen military, but also for Mike Alexander. The show features an interview with two members of Evile, conducted by Alexander Milas of Metal Hammer. In Shock Of The New this week, you'll be hearing from Shudderwall, Francis Soto, Daisy Cutter, Thaurorod and Morphine Killer.
As usual, if you want to get in touch with me to ask for a song, contribute a Lie Back And Enjoy It, suggest a band for Shock Of The New (including your own!) or start a new round of The Connection, click on the Contact Form link on the homepage. Remember I also want photos of you to go in the Listeners Gallery and Miss Wyrd Ways Rock Show. Send your shots to mail@wyrdwaysrs.com.
