General:
ZOMBIE HUNTERS is a show of modern horror. It details the lives of Billy Cassidy and his group of friends and family, all trying to survive the re-awakening of the dead in New York City. Characters: Billy Cassidy - Billy is a regular, everyday guy: he works his shift, comes home to his girlfriend, and doesn’t ask too much out of life. An assembly worker at the Mako Staple Factory in Long Island City, he finds himself ill equipped to act when the world gets turned upside-down. Now, in addition to his hometown being plagued with the undead, his girlfriend, Judy, has vanished. But the worst of times are just beginning. Billy is often the conscience of the group, although he cannot defend himself from the darker side of this role: the often self-destructive nature of those who tend to think of themselves last. He doesn’t know it, but his decision to group together an anti-Zombie team will ultimately turn the tide of the impending war. Paul Michael Bates - As a letter carrier for the USPS, Paul Bates never stood out in the crowd. But when the dead began rising from their graves, he saw a new possibility, one which would allow him to choose his fate in ways he’d never previously dreamed of! Bates is the cynic of the group, the practical one, and is often at odds with everyone else due to this. But even though he almost accidentally kills Billy during one of the first hunts, the others know that they need him. His grounded demeanor is often the only thing that supports everyone else, and will ultimately keep them going. John Salazar - The member of the group with the most training, and the most to lose, is John Salazar. A former United States Marine, John is the only member of the group with children of his own (he is also the only member of the group not currently living in Billy’s gated and boarded-up apartment). The owner of a construction company on Long Island, John is sometimes out on his own during the worse of it, but he’s also the idea man, the resourceful one of the group, as much of a dealmaker as he is a fighter. But when the Zombie plague takes a terrible personal turn, it brings out another side of him through his ultimate loss: a spiritual sense the others cannot come close to. Brock Denworth - As lead Anchorman for WOZZ-TV Channel 17 news, Brock and his partner Nina become the first members of the media to cover the resurrection of the dead, even though at first he is as much in denial of the truth as the rest of the country. The ratings speak for themselves: most New Yorkers turn to WOZZ and Brock to distill the facts from the turmoil of widespread rumor! Nina Chu - Top Reporter and Anchorperson Nina Chu finds herself in the middle of the Zombie onslaught just one day into her job at WOZZ New York. A celebrity in her own right through her Emmy Award-winning investigative work in Pittsburgh, Nina’s steely delivery of the nightmarish events helps keep the viewing populace calm and informed through the worst of it! Dr. Rebecca Kaufman - An intern at Saint John’s Hospital in Queens, Dr. Kaufman is friends with Billy’s girlfriend, Judy, and begins to work closely with Billy and his team after Judy’s disappearance. A close call with a pair of Zombies in the hallway of the hospital shows Rebecca that the only safety is in numbers. She joins with Billy, Bates, and John as their medic, moves in, and sets up an infirmary in the abandoned dentist’s office next to their apartment. Carrie Walker - As a nurse working with Rebecca Kaufman, Carrie sees the aftermath of the zombie attacks day after day, and finally decides to follow the Doctor’s lead. Carrie is a quiet, shy young woman who faces almost certain death early on, inside Billy’s own house! Her initial feelings for Billy grow more intense as time goes on, though his emotions seem to be lost on anything other than his missing love. In time, Carrie becomes every bit of a Hunter as the rest of them, learning to cast aside her fears and insecurities in order to better survive in the new, undead-ridden world.
