When I was 13 yrs old, while living in the redwoods of Northern California, I was mentored by Ted Ostrow, who had spent the 60's, as the manager/projectionist of the Bleecker Street Cinema, NYC - the cinema that first screened films by international, art, and indie filmmakers. By 19, I was the operator of SF's landmark movie palace, the Castro Theatre and it became world famous during my tenure.
My eye was in development prior to my motion picture work, as my parents were flashbulb welding glee filled shutterbugs and my mother became an award winner, for her B&W abstracts. My first job ever, was as a child model - print & runway, starting when I was age 2. My deepest respect to anyone subjected to endless sittings and fittings!
I started to apply myself to photography, in earnest, in 2008. I bought many cameras, accessories, books and CS3. Lightroom 2 is my latest addition, and is helping, heaps! I do have experience working with top motion picture film timers, DP's, and directors, making color corrections which began in 1983, with the film "Koyaanisqatsi" ( director Godfrey Reggio, DP Ron "Baraka" Fricke, and editor Alton Walpole). I am transposing color timing & related knowledge to CS3.
It's been the "just jump out of the plane" school of learning. A bit like being perfectly capable of composing hit songs but having to learn a whole new studio. For now, I am sneaking around and only dealing with my subjects and my tools, and, would love an internship with a real master. Therefore, this profile represents me, as I am learning.
