Stylistically, the Blarnacles are very ecclectic. Their songs often cross genres and feature a variety of different combinations of instruments. They occasionally sound like Alissa Jones, Doc Watson and many Celtic groups. They wish they sounded like Flook. Paul's vocals and stage antics defy description.
The Blarnacles have been playing Celtic, Folk, and Bluegrass influenced acoustic music in the Cincinnati area, since November, 2004. The name "Blarnacles" is compromise hybid of "Blarney" and "Barnacles." Ron and Tamina have been playing bluegrass music (on and off) for about 25 years. For about five years, Ron and Dave played surf instrumental music together with the Maladroits. In 2004, Ron, Tam, and Dave decided to learn to play Celtic music with a folk and bluegrass flair. Mike and Paul joined in 2005, and Tim in 2006. Marianne, a classically trained harpist added a whole new dimension to the band in 2007. Finally, in 2009 the Blarnacles signed Rebecca Sontag to contribute to the vocal repertoir. The Blarnacles have played at a variety of events and venues including: the Harvest Home Fair(Cheviot), Old Time Music Festival, Henke Winery, Front Porch Coffee House, and Molly Malone's Irish Pub. In 2007 and 2008, they performed at the Cincinnati Celtic Festival. Their second cd "Got Blarnacles" was well-reviewed. Their newest cd, "The Road to Blarney," is also now available. Both can be purchased at http://cdbaby.com/cd/blarnacles. Check out the documentary about the Blarnacles on youtube!

Hey all, I am proud to announce the return of the family Sparrows of Bloomington IN. They are making the trip with guitars, autoharps and babies in hand. Ok, just the one baby, little Jack Sparrow who will probably be doing his baby folk songs as well, seriously! A one of a kind show from a one of a kind folk music family, my pals The Sparrows. You won’t want to miss this month’s PEOPLES SONGS!
