Those opportunities to observe, process and act upon what he witnesses in the world surrounding him are the primary traits of a great songwriter, something Heath continues to showcase on his second Reunion Records release, What If We (August 19, 2008).
Even the album’s title grew up out of one of those little moments, a conversation Heath was having with a mentor that sent the Nashville native, now Houston resident, spinning off into thought.
“Every part of that phrase, ‘what if we,’ is important,” Heath says. “I don’t even look at it as incomplete – dot, dot, dot – because the ‘what if’ part is about possibilities, obviously. But the ‘we’ part is saying, ‘let’s do this together, let’s not do this alone.’”
Brandon, "Give Me Your Eyes" is very cool song. I like your style, strong vocals, not overly produced, good lyrics. So much of christian music is sounding programmed. Your music stands out. I do a song called "We are the People" that you might like. Remember the song "Funky Town". CJ who sang that song (Lipps Inc.) sings with me on it. so Im pretttyyyy upset! When you came to the woodlands with leeland I had to miss it because I was playing a show! Which by the way leeland is my second favorite! Ha, and now I planned on driving out to cleburn today only to find out they were not selling tickets! Now if I want to see you I have to drive out to Missouri or Florida! Dang man! Get another show in Texas! Other wise I will have to keep playing your music and acting like im there!
Just wanted to tell you have Excited and Lucky I felt to see you perform on Fri night in Lincoln, NE. When you sang Deliver me I could't help but break down into tears even though I promised myself I woulnd't. That was by far the most heartfelt and emotional performance i've ever heard. I love Andrew Peterson but you blew him way out of the water- voice wise. Got to give him credit for writing the song. Once again I LOVE to hear you perform! You are so amazing! I praise the lord for working through you! I brought a non- believer to that concert and let me just say you touched them in a way I couldn't..thanks!
