Breakspoll Festival Spain 2009
Now that the dust has settled on the enormously successful Breakspoll International Breakbeat Awards 2009 held at Fabric & Matter in London, Breakspoll now turns its attention to the next colossal party … only this time it’s in the sun. Yes Breakspoll is coming to Spain!
The Spanish breakbeat scene is vast and for years the country has hosted parties that easily pull 5000+ partygoers on a regular basis. Breakspoll will be taking their brand to Seville and throwing a party that puts the cream of the UK breakbeat acts alongside the Spanish veterans who have been responsible for crafting such an immense scene. Now for the first time, and with the help of iBreaks Radio and Funkatech Records, the UK and Spanish scenes will come together to celebrate breakbeat on a level that has never been witnessed before. This event will be one of the most memorable breakbeat parties of the decade.
Breakspoll Spain Festival 2009 will propel a whole host of talent from the UK and beyond to play against the striking backdrop of an impressive arena to be showcased alongside the Spanish DJs. The festival will be held at the renowned Palacio De Los Deportes San Pablo stadium, home to Seville’s first division basketball team. The stadium has a 10,000 capacity and is centrally located within Seville, only a 10 min drive from the airport and 5 mins from Seville’s main train station. This is the first time an event of this kind has ever been held at the Palacio De Los Deportes San Pablo stadium in central Seville.

Breakspoll 2009
Breakbeat is changing all the time, and Breakspoll is changing with it. As many of the old-guard breakbeat veterans start to affiliate themselves with an already overcrowded electro/house scene, Breakspoll will deliver and showcase an entire new breed of innovators in breakbeat DJing and production, all alongside the established names who still support and believe in this scene. Breakspoll 2009 is dedicated to paving the way for new artists, their new sounds and the new influences - for a new scene.
New Artists, New Sounds, New Scene
In 2008, breaks has had a massive resurgence in dynamic thought-provoking music, taking influences from electro, dubstep, baltimore, drum & bass and house. Whilst some jaded artists complain that breaks has been exhausted of ideas, others have nothing but positive vibes for this vibrant music and have been busy resurrecting a new path for breaks.
A-Skillz has smashed festivals like Glastonbury and Big Chill with his funk-tinged bloc party hip-hop influenced breaks. Rico Tubbs’ ghetto-tech, booty-bassline, rave breaks has crossed over massively with DJs like Sinden stating "Rico's the hottest producer out there." Reso has also demonstrated breakbeat's diversity and has caught the imagination of party goers across the country by dropping his dubstep-fuelled bassline frequencies. Not forgetting N.A.P.T. who have quite literally steam-rolled the breaks scene with their quirky, funk-induced, full-throttle party tracks.
In a fast-changing world of internet-based dance music, where blogging and digital downloads have become widespread within the industry, breakbeat provides a licence to play and sound as you like, and new producers have been using breaks as a springboard for creativity more diversely than ever in 2008.
Breakspoll 2009 is a culmination of that year, as artists, industry insiders and media get together for the 8th International Breakbeat Awards, held at Fabric nightclub in London, and following on for another day at the Breakspoll Aftershow party at matter nightclub at the o2.
New Look Awards
In keeping with this new look event, the awards themselves have new presenters - the delectable Janette Slack (who's DJ and production accomplishments more than speak for themselves, with her global DJ gigs and excellent output on Air Recordings) and Ken Mac (renowned breaks vocalist and part of Pyramid) take control of the ceremony for 2009.
With a new image, new awards, new acts, new presenters, and a new voting system aimed at supporting this new scene, Breakspoll 2009 is going to prove that the tired, jaded, middle aged critics are wrong: Breakbeat is, more than ever, an exciting and creative form of music with a strong and passionate following. The revolution begins here: Breakspoll 2009, forging the new sound of breaks!
