with help from these guys on the records:
Dustyn Lucas-tinkling the ivories,
B.W.Brandes- old gibson & back-up boy,
Rosa Smedley- plays a double bass bigger than her,
Genevieve Schreier- choir girl songstress,
Nicole Texador- harmony genius,
James Lamb- slide guitar star,
Keven Bertram- a lil accordian never hurts,
Danielle Stevenson- trombone darling.
Influences
memories: those forgotten and those that won't go away. hearts: warm and cold.
Sounds Like
sweet and buttery baked goods or perhaps an irish coffee..."sweet and soothing with a little bite" (Bill Brownstein, Montreal Gazette)
Even though the grey wool tunics we had to wear in choir concerts were so itchy and ugly, and even though we sometimes had to stand for what seemed liked days behind the horn section at the Christmas concert, and even though I did all I could as a shy little one to avoid the eye contact of the choir director as to not have to solo, I am thankful for eight long years of weekly formation in The Vancouver Bach Choir. Thanks Mom.
Once I got a bit less shy I found a love for singing, dancing and acting...behold the highschool musical. I never thought I'd be writing my own songs and standing on stage sharing them with a room full (hopefully) of people, but I am and I love it.
Two years ago some Unsettlers and I got in our station wagon and drove to Montreal where they welcomed us with open arms, and I've been there ever since, singing with The Unsettlers (check out our debut album) and working on my solo project. This last summer I recorded my solo EP "Then We Learned to Dance" with a fantastic group of musicians. You can buy it here:
You were lovely at SMIM last week my dear! Bring on the UK tour. I asked the bassist I had in mind for your back up band last night so if your Montreal-based 'other men' can't make it over the water with you, you can use some OTHER men instead. Ha! Hope you're having a great Unsettlers Halloween bash. Talk soon. Love C
Didn't know that you are a in the Unsettlers. It was really a great show yesterday and loved to hear some of your songs live, backed by the band. We were clearly in an other world. Wonderful!
