Can.Ky.Ree performs hauntingly beautiful songs of love and loss and fate that sound like they might have slipped out of the dark end of Tin Pan Alley; aching minor-key melodies in ¾ time; a beguine, a tarantella; shadowy cumbias and moonlit musettes. This music is very good for listening or drinking to, and those who drink while listening have been known to dance in unpredictable ways.
The melancholy one's voice carries the scars and stories of a nine-year lost weekend busking the streets of Paris. The quiet one's hands float over the ivories as though hes just spilled a drink on Satie's piano. With an arsenal of wind instruments, the one to the left whispers and wails, while the fervent one's contrebasse and mister devil-may-care's violin conjure the ebb and flow of a phantom orchestra on a ghostly guingette.
For seven years, Can.Ky.Ree has been burning it down in the dives of Chicago, leaving a trail of wondrous nights not soon to be forgotten.
Hello. Thanks for being friends with us. If you can, come check us out 4-7 @ Darkroom with Ceiling Stars, Belmondos and Brasstronaut (we're first/9:00).
Well, before I forget, your gigs, one at the silent auction, and the other at the Gallery were both quite an adventure. Still trying to get my timing right, I was awfully late at the silent auction, and awfully early at the Gallery. Oh well. I need another setting of my internal clock, not that the kinda Irish sounding duo wasn't grand, but I could have stood to have heard less of it (don't tell them that, he he). You know you're making it when the entire room is screaming, "One more...one more." Thanks for honoring us with even more than one more, though it would have been more acceptable if you'd done another five. I gotta say, I felt gyped that you only played one set. Well, guess what? You're going to be playing during my art show at the Gallery in May, so you know I'll see you there. I guess until we locate something better, this lonely planet is home sweet home. I can only say, I'm damn glad you're in it with me.

ps, Could you cut me an IP or extended version of far be it for me????? I do have the feeling I'm going to remain disenchanted in that regard, but hey, one can always hope.
hi, all. i enjoyed the performance at the gallery the other night. thanks a lot. you all played great. the bassoon was a lovely surprise. see you 'round.
Right on!!!! I thought you'd never play, damn the bad information, thought the show started at 9pm, but oh well. I caught all your sets, though it got late for my moms, and got a few pictures with you sexy fellas, so I'm not by any means complaining. My only real complaint is that you aren't playing enough, and that my favorite song didn't make it onto your cd. Thanks for the autographs, though. I will treasure the memory of that night forever, and, if you're interested, I'll put the pics on my page, so you too can relive it again and again, ha ha.
Once again, great show last night. Man, I could get used to this two gig a week thing, you should play out more often!!! At least I've successfully forced you into getting to my next art show at the Gallery -- December 5th, don't forget, and of course tell all your friends. So, I guess Tom is telepathic, or maybe more like he knows I'll always beg to hear one more song, and if it happens to be my favorite, I can't complain too much when you actually do quit the stage.

ps, what happened to the "good night" song you used to play for a closer at California Clipper on those Sunday nights when Maker's Mark was only $2.50????
pps. I know, I know, I don't think I've ever had one response from you from all my comments and messages, but I'm persistent, and I'll keep bugging you until you come around.
Your show last night was great, and I was honored to pass the tip bucket for you. Hopefully, you got a few dollars, but whatever the sum, it was a lot less than you're worth.
We just got your record, thanks! After we got it I saw that we played it back in January. Confusing – until I realized that our Guest Ana Bon-Bon played her copy. Ohhh. Now we have our own to play, yea! Thanks again. bruce
I love this old flavour.... hope to dance someday at the rhythm of your sweet melodies... somewhere out at the corner of an old street or...in a smoky bar AliStaR
