in 1991 Alejandro Hernandez decides to form a proyect wich he initiate called-"capricornus",basis among the constellations,his space devotee, sci-fi,movies,comics,stuff like that.
at the time Alex,having a 4 year experience in the music bussiness, playing with differents types of music along with so many bands, he wants to give 'em his own ideas,in order to create music, but the results is disaster.
in between of that,he start to write his own material,the very first capricornus stuff,using a lot of musical influeces and gender like: heavy,speed ,thrash, doom,industrial,progressive,experimental,classical,jazz fusion,blues,etc,all of this for create a unique style and sound to offer,in fact since the benning, capricornus always try to do something different in metal mind mode.
1993 to 2000,the band did a lot of recordings all made in home,(no money for do that in a proffesional studio),attempt to made the best job possible, Alex himself make all the work: playing all instruments (guitars,bass,voices,keys,drums-some real and other from keyboards,etc,), producing,engineering and mixing,at the time there's no one around out here for help the project...
in 1994 a local issue called-"banda roquera",give some words about first demo release called-"RADICAL CHANGE"-1994,along with his radio show with the same name of the magazine,capricornus obtein his very first exposure to the people with good acceptation.
heavy weight champions of the world metal scene,names like DAVID T. CHASTAIN and MARTY FRIEDMAN (cacophony,megadeth),listen to some capricornus tapes and both gives a good commentary and advice.
in the whole decade till 2000,capricornus was only Alex as sole member but right after Chema (drums) his brother,becoming a new member of the band.
november 2000 Alex records a free improvisational way guitar stuff for a radio show: 105.7 ORBITA (R.I.P.),who was aired in january of 2001, divided in 3 sessions,so many people hearing about this, pleasant.
in 2001,brothers Alex and Chema,work together to make a trilogy of cd's: "THE NEW WORLD ORDER"-2001,"IN THE NAME OF GOD"-2003 (includes bonus tracks of 2002 sessions),and most recently record entitled: "THE COSMIC INNER CIRCLE"-2006 this work defines clearly 15 years of work in the capricornus project,it's the best cd ever made for us,'till now..
we've never had a chance to play this music live in a front of crowd, right now, we do it with the addition in the band of Ivan Pizaña on bass.
after of 15 years of fight for freedom music speech-(in Mexico doesn't exist a REAL metal scene,commercial and pop music rules in everywhere unfortunaletly).
capricornus is alive and well and hungry for search a places to play our music and wants to kick ass to some people who thinks metal is a fashion...

LA HISTORIA DE CAPRICORNUS
en 1991 Alejandro Hernandez decide formar un proyecto al cual llamaria - "capricornus",basandose en las constelaciones y por su aficion al espacio,la ciencia ficcion, peliculas,etc.
contando en ese momento con 4 años de experiencia en el medio tocando con diferentes bandas,al no poder aportar ideas para crear musica,(discriminacion,sub-valoracion por ejemplo), empieza a componer material para el proyecto utilizando generos como: heavy,speed,trash,doom,industrial metal progresivo,experimental,clasico,fusion,blues,etc. como base musical para aplicarse en el estilo de capricornus.
del año 1993 a 2000 se produjeron una serie de grabaciones todas hechas en casa,intentando,claro que estas quedaran lo mejor posible,Alejandro graba todos los instrumentos musicales al no contar con la ayuda de alguien,produce,mezcla y promociona el material. se dio reseña de "RADICAL CHANGE" (primer demo de 1994), por medio de la revista "BANDA ROQUERA" y en su programa de radio en 1994,obteniendo buenas criticas.gente de la talla de DAVID CHASTAIN Y MARTY FRIEDMAN escucharon grabaciones de capricornus brindando muy buenos comentarios. a mediados de los 90's,se buscan musicos para hacer de capricornus una banda de verdad pero sin exito alguno.
las grabaciones que se realizaron en este periodo fueron:

las letras son cantadas en ingles debido al criterio y decision de su creador,"el heavy suena mejor en su idioma original"...solo como una opinion...
para finales del 2000,Alejandro graba un programa de radio para transmitirse en 106.5 orbita (R.I.P. ahora reaktor) con el conductor Jose Coyola,interpretando una serie de improvisaciones con la guitarra en vivo,el programa fue transmitido a todo el valle de Mexico obteniendo muy buenos resultados
En el 2001 los hermanos Alejandro y Chema,trabajan juntos en lo que seria un trilogia de cd's : THE NEW WORLD ORDER-2001 IN THE NAME OF GOD-2003 -(incluye temas extra sesiones del 2002),y la grabacion mas reciente: THE COSMIC INNER CIRCLE- 2006,el cual define claramente los 15 años de trabajo en capricornus,el mejor trabajo hecho hasta la fecha.
nunca se habia tocado en vivo y no habia mejor momento que ahora para hacerlo. por medio de un anunucio conocimos a Ivan Pizaña quien actualmente es bajista de la banda,y asi capricornus realizo su primera presentacion en 15 años el pasado 19 noviembre de 2006,obteniendo muy buena respuesta del publico.
capricornus esta activo, vivo y bien y en busqueda de lugares donde presentarse,y buscamos dar a conocer ampliamente el material por medio de distribuidores. seguimos adelante... capricornus rules ¡¡¡¡¡

Quiero invitarlos al concierto de música alternativa que formará parte de los festejos del día de muertos en la "Mega Ofrenda" de la UNAM, ESTE lUNES 2 DE NOVIEMBRE , en el "Foro Mictlán" a espaldas de la Fac. de Derecho. El evento comienza a las 14:00 hrs. Tocarán varias bandas entre ellas ICONOCLASTA, y nuestra participación será a las 18:00 HRS. La entrada es libre.
