This beloved event enjoyed it's last year in 2009.

Scarlet the Pirate Fox Prince and his drop-dead gorgeous Mermaids generously extended the title of Honorary Sea Vixens to Lady Knott and Wench Knott during their visit to Scarby 2007, and they presented us with this WAY COOL FLAG! We'll fly our flag high with love during Cast Aways events to come in the spirit of faire folk everywhere! Much love to Scarlet and the gang, and a special shout out to Miaread and Lord Connor, our dear Long-Lost Cast Aways in OK!

The Cast Aways will miss Scarlet's in 2010!!!

Now, this as this section is entitled "I'd like to Meet", let's make this clear - why, we'd like to meet…YOU! Please read of our most recent adventures in volunteering:

The Ocean Springs Renaissance Festival invited our members to be a part of their contingent in the Ocean Springs Elks Parade on January 19, 2008

. Photos courtesy of Wench Knott

.

Knights of Valour provided horses led by Sir Shanton.
St. John's Episcopal Church fed our volunteers and the SCA Baronies of Seleone and Axemoor were well represented. If you like, please do read more about this chilly march and everyone who deserves thanks for their part in our blog. See the 2008 parade in our pics as well

Thought for the day

.get out there - with us - and have fun! Experiences like these really take the Force out of your mundane work week

.

The Louisiana Renaissance Festival 2007

Lady Knott was sent on a quest for the "Best Tasting Man" by royal decree. Special mention - the Spaniard of the SCA Barony of Axemoor melted more than a few palates with his lavish flair for spice. Kudos to Martin of Martin Woodworks for winning the hearts of selected lady judges with his description of the best "taste" of one of the wierdest squirting lollipops ever to be exposed to mortal senses (yet another good reason to constantly keep a wide variety of nonperishable treats in the car!)

Props to the Viking Vernon Pillage for absolute cuteness

Heroes indeed!! Here is a listing of our Cast Aways, in the order in which they've provided a few lines about themselves or their favorite chosen persona:

The Wanderings of Wench Knott are a true testament to what it means to be a Cast Away! What has become of the Pirate Zulu? Has the Pooty Pirate made a new use of a Taco Bell cup? You can read all about her antics (and a great deal more about the Cast Aways) on her MySpace page

.
Lawrence M. brought this infamous pump to the 2006 Camping Social. Never has the wilderness been quite so disturbed. If you are ever in need of someone to battle the Spanish for you in the Netherlands, the Law is your man

. The Void. There is no photo available for the Void

.
Billy "Bones" Mobley is the First Mate of Captain Katherine "Mad Dog" (or "Mad Kat") Mobley. He served in the King's Army for ten years before turning his back on the Crown for his woman and to begin their plunders of the High Seas

.
This Man is blessed with multiple personality disorder (disorder… Indeed!), for he says, "I am: John Erskine 7th Earl of Mar, or the “Dirty Grubby Scotsman”, or the Video dude, and some people actually know me as Keith"

.
Dylan. His favorite passtime is kidnapping the Green Man's "siblings" and holding them for ransom

.
Syd E. is the man behind the chronicling of THE FIGHTIN' 79TH IN WORLD WAR II, and just the sweetest guy with deejay tendencies to never pose as a beast.

Dionne C. Lady Knott, that's me, unless it's time to dress like a pirate, or transport a throne. I LIVE to meet new people, and I love my friends. Each and every one of you! Now, let's get out there and DO something

.and wear bunny ears

.
Ashleigh S. on location in garb after wowing an auditorium of school children during a performance long ago at a middle school far far away. Ash is in Germany right now, Air Forcing the Cast Aways to every Medieval faire, castle and falafel house she can find!

Brittany H., known to be a lady by birth, but pirate by nature is often found with a sketchbook in her hand and a smile on her face. Her love of the faire is comparable only to her love of the arts

. Ryleh the Wanderer is a joy indeed to happen upon at any given Ren faire. He'll capture your soul, then bear it along with all the details of your most mischievious faire antics for all to see on Ryleh's Renaissance World! We love you Ryleh, oh yes we do—oooh!

Madison. Spunk and heart, smiles and charm, Madison will brighten your day anytime. Dragons are Madison's fave. "Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crispy and good with ketchup!"

Jackie C. - Wife of Bath. During my travels amongst the green vastness of England, I must say they take good Baths. Surely, I will find my sixth husband hereth. Good Day, and God Save the Real Queen and shave the Other (sorry Zane. Heh!)

Please help Walter Koenig, "Chekov from Star Trek TOS", Get His Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Walter has been nominated for his star and waltersstar.com has raised the money to manufacture and install the star (Thanks!). All Walter needs now is the votes of the Walk of Fame Committee.
Write to the Walk of Fame Committee a polite letter in your own words, why you think Walter should have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. These NEED to be letters from each individual fan in the fan's own words. Not copies, Not form letters, Not chain letters.

Everyone celebrates St. Patrick's Day in their own way.

Finnegan was an upperclassman who tormented James T. Kirk during his time at Starfleet Academy.
Finnegan taunts Kirk, "You're a stupid under classman. I've got the edge. I'm still 20 years old.Look at you. You're an old man."

Finnegan wins the first round of the fight that he starts with Captain Kirk.
Finnegan gloats, "Sleep sweet,Jimmy boy. Sleep as long as you like. Sleep forever,Jim baby. Forever and forever."

Kirk finally has enough and he chases down Finnegan and wins the fight.

Spock inquires, "Did you enjoy it, Captain?"
Kirk reflects, "Yes, I enjoyed it. After all these years...I did enjoy it.
The one thing I wanted to do was to beat the tar out of Finnegan."

    Cast Aways Adventures in Volunteering

    BabelCon 2009

The 2009 BabelCon Quest for the King was a huge success! 2008 King Rusa T'son (Jason Brandon) graciously crowned our 2009 King, Shaun of the Dead (Travis Darsam). More info to come soon!
We'd like to thank our friends of the Louisiana Renaissance Festival for load of fun with historical improv! Please take a look at the BabelCon Article Featuring the Cast Aways Open Theatre Troupe, Oasis Bellydance Troupe, The 501st Legion, and more!

    ImagiCon - Birmingham, AL - March 2009

Cast Aways were specially invited to perform our Quest for the King for ImagiCon's first ever convention! Ray of ImagiCon found us and requested our presence, and Dionne , Kaitlin, Cathy, Amanda, Carole, Rachel, Brittany and Arik were all to happy to attend. We had a FANTASTIC time, treated like royalty as we were by Lord High Protector Tim. The Imagicon Ball/Brawl was fun to host, and we enjoyed questing for our King. Special hugs to Abby, and much affection to Thomas! We look forward to ImagiCon 2010!!!

Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge First Annual Storybook Ball

"Wake up, Beauty," was all Kaitlin D. had to hear to flutter open her lashes and smile to charm hundreds of little knights and ladies granted special priviledge to awaken her.

Lady Jennifer...also known as Ady Jennifer, formerly known as Dy Jennifer, is an excellent fan dropper...and "Y"? Lady Brittany was the tallest of the French hooded vixens even to usurp a throne! Queen Anne was there to perform her ceremonies, while all the while Harry Potter wand-making was streamlined to an exact science by the masterful David L. and Jonathan L. Jack (Dylan C.) and his Beans were a hit with the crowd, and with tiling crafts no less. Special kudos to Keith C., Jason K. and Nicole K. for peasant duty above and beyond hands-on gardening of even the tallest stalks!

Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire March 2009

Nothing steals the show better than a proposal...in the middle of a rapier melee of pirates versus royal guards. According to the article in the Pensacola News Journal, Robert Archer proposes marriage to Jennifer LaConte Sunday during the Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire at the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds.

    Congratulations to our friends!!!

BabelCon's side of the Celtic Society of Louisiana's Float in the Spanish Town Parade - Baton Rouge - Feb 21, 2009

    Babelcon Float

Bottom row: Jason of the Ordo, Dionne C., Jason aka King Rusa of BabelCon 2009, Jennifer Marie. Photo courtesy of Marvin the Paranoid Android and his "Handler", David L.

We were too impressed with each others' throws to notice the HUGE sign under us (go, BabelCon), and, like, we were at the CAPITAL!!! Elmo, the Hulk and the prominent Sci-Fi Caddy Shack dancing Go-Beaver even made appearances periodically. What a wild and crazy ride! Love to the CSOL!!!

The Ocean Springs Elks Mardi Gras Parade 2009

    Filled to capacity!

Talk about a jam-packed blast from the past! We had the best time riding in this stellar float built by a member of the St. John's Episcopal church and designed by Herb Moore of the Ocean Springs Renaissance Festival. King Nathan and Queen Michele the Benevolent were glitzed in true bead glam and surrounded by...well...us!

    Ahhhh..a gorgeous setting for a pre-parade rest.

A pre-parade rest after sorting and labeling beads, then getting all dolled (or duded)-up was just what the Royal Physician ordered. This event is fun every year, but it was triple the awesome in 2009 with a GORGEOUS SUNNY DAY!

BabelCon Knighting Ceremony at Borders? That's right! On December 27, a Royal Court of Cast Aways were hosted by BabelCon to feature the upcoming 2009 Spanish Town Parade BabelCon Float! More to come soon, but here is a very SERIOUS message of thanks to our tireless volunteers, including those who planned to come (Paige and Steven) but could not due to unforeseen circumstances.

Cast Aways performed a second season of Christmas Magic at the Arts Market of New Orleans. The Silent Knight, Lady Holly, the Not-So-Little Drummer Boy, Stocking Stuffer Dave and a Christmas Angel made an appearance and handed out cookies to the artists. More to come soon!

    BabelCon 3 - Baton Rouge - July 18 - 20, 2008

Cast Aways were special guests of BabelCon 3! Envisioned and brought to the con floor by Alyne Pustanio, with Le Petite Renaissance Festival as our playground, Queen Anne of the Realm of Babel set a Royal Court of Cast Aways on a Quest for the King!

    Friday Night Festivities

The BabelCon Meet-N-Greet & Eat gave con patrons the invitation to mingle with guests Richard Hatch (Apollo of the Original Battlestar), Bob May (the Lost in Space Robot), J.D. Hertzler, Kalila Smith of Haunted History Tours, and Queen Dionne of the Kingdom of Babel??? Sweet!!!

Across town, the PIRATED SHINDIG began an hour after the Meet-N-Greet, starring Cedric of the Bedlam Bards. Featured author M.B. Weston greeted guests and our hosts, the Celtic Society of Louisiana, allowed us a night of pirated fun led by the Crew of the Black Pearl and Cast Aways Open Theatre Troupe.

    The Con Opens!

BabelCon board members opened the con floor with a collaborative skit comprised of Cast Aways pirates and courtiers, 501st and Red Stick Rebellion Jedi and Imperial forces, and the SCA Shire of Wyrmgeist flanked King William fitz Hugh de Cambria, King of Gleann Abhann. The opening show culminated in Queen Anne of the Realm of Babel announcing the Cast Aways Quest for the King!

The amount of fun we all had was so all-encompassing, blogs will have to be posted here on the Cast Aways MySpace to detail it all. There is a pictorial story board of the events in our BabelCon 3 photo album in our MySpace pics section

    . Highlights

    * Mack Knott was gifted the Grapes of Mack yet proved himself no more than a split Pea when he fled the challenge to swordfight the Queen

    * Lady Kaitlin was rescued by THE Anakin Skywalker from the clutches of Vader

    * M.B. Weston was declared Publish Knott

    * Princess Victoria joined our Royal Court of Cast Aways

    * Oasis Bellydance Troupe wowed Cast Aways and con-goers alike with their beauty and grace of dance, then blew everyone completely away with a visually stunning performance Saturday night as the Orion Slave Girls

    * Donated items from Scarlet's Midwinter Renaissance Festival and Ocean Springs Renaissance Festival made ridiculous amounts of money for McMain's Charity

    * Richard Hatch and Wench Knott dueled in a grovel-off

    * Carole and Kathy of the Crew of the Black Pearl battled with live steel

    * Plunge Knott was awarded his scepter

    * Cedric of the Bedlam Bards inspired a wench/Sith Lord line sing of the Halleluia song from Shrek

    * Sir Keith, when he was NOT being mistakenly identified as Voyager's "The Doctor" - Robert Picardo, thought himself quite dashing to find he could "turn the Paige"

    * Bob May proclaimed himself Sir Robot and was given royal backrubs in full court

    * Wench Knott was dumped by Darth Vader

    * Mini Mimi, gifted of Cedric and Joyce of the Bedlam Bards, knighted Sir Marvin the Paranoid Android.

In conclusion, we found Lord Vader, Gary of the 501st, to be an excellent dancer, and the proof is right here:
    http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=38894139

There's SO MUCH more!! Please read our blog comments! I've invited all our members to tell of their adventures at BabelCon 2008. You are welcome to view our pics in the BabelCon 3 album. Hope to see you next year at BabelCon 4!

    Scorpeo Cutlass Movie Shoot
    July 12, 2008 - Pensacola, LA

Particle 9 Productions invited us to come and be part of a pirate film shoot at Fort Pickens. Well, due to permit problems and a HUGE all-day storm, what had been a rainy, yet lovely and promising morning turned into a MAELSTROM of piratical proportions. However, fun was to be had, and we found it! Meeting up with the Keep to the Code, Crew of the Black Pearl, and SCA folks was GREAT fun! We enjoyed costumed huddling in wet shelters and shared tales of piratical misadventuring.

Half of us enjoyed a boat ride to and from the island (some got wetter than others) and a handful of us enjoyed a stroll around the fort (please take some time to check out our pics of that!). And, um...the Jolly Roger flying high over Fort Pickens...that had been there since...piratical times, right? RIGHT! :)

Dinner at Miller's Alehouse was absolutely a Godsend, and we Cast Aways owe Mike Biggs and Elise Williams our thanks for their gift hotel room. A small brunch was enjoyed the next day by Elise, Mike, Dionne and Dylan at McGuire's in their ultra-cool Cellar Room. Definitely won't forget this weekend. My skirts are still drying!

Northshore Living Center Mini Ren Faire

On June 28, 2008, we brought the Renaissance to residents of
    the Northshore Living Center,
THE most charming nursing home in Slidell, Louisiana.
Queen Anne and Her Royal Court of Cast Aways performed knighting and lady ceremonies. Lord Marshall Keith and "horses" hosted WHEECHAIR JOUSTING WITH FUN NOODLES!!

Wench Knott demonstrated the true art form of groveling.

Sorcha, Queen of Gypsies, kidnapped more than a few hearts with her generosity of spirit. Sir Lawrence proved EXACTLY why he is indeed - Pump Knott. Rex gifted us with his MOST helpful band of merry courtiers.

The Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl Movie Interactive was hosted by the Crew of the Black Pearl Pirates, Carole and Cathy - whom we proudly display swordfighting below!!

Royal Jester Jimi mesmerized the crowds with precarious balloon bears, juggling and a royal...SKUNK!?

In cooperation with NSL staff, volunteers entertained young and old with games of chance, crafts-making with hair wreaths and boffer swords. Characters were in great abundance: Sir Justin the Motorcycling Stormwaker! The BOSUNATOR!! The very Bosun herself, completely exhausted and STILL volunteering!!! Lady Darlene and Wench Paige, both new to the Cast Aways, assisted in all manner of setups, tear-downs, wreathmaking, bedside visits, smiles and kind words!! Capn Mick Knott wandering the halls performing KNOTT chivalrous deeds? Hmmm...why Knott?

A sea of silk flowers was no match for Lady Kaitlin.

Caricatures were donated by the multi-talented Elise, who ran into court (and right into everyone's hearts) in search of Fluffy!!! Still more swordplay took place in the courtyard. Squire Dylan found the very slightest loss of teenage angst when he was declared Slip Knott.

The day came to a rousing end when our Quest for the King of Northshore Living Center 2008 culminated in the sweetest King ever to "Knott" admit he is kind of "Knott" chivalrous...perhaps.

    Mobicon XI

Setting up Royal Court for Queen Anne and the Cast Aways - showing our support of Scarlet's Midwinter Renaissance Festival by flying the Jolly Roger of the Sea Vixen. Love to Scarlet!

How many kilted men does it take to install half a tent prop? You be the judge.

One of them, Rowan (or Rex if you prefer) was even framed for his part in it!

Mobicon never fails to please those in search of marathon excitement and crazy fun. Please read of our adventures in our Mobicon XI blog or peruse the album.

Faire Sur La Mer - OSRF 2008

By order of the beautiful and gracious Queen Michele the Benevolent, and with the dolphin gifting of His Majesty King Nathan, the Cast Aways were welcomed guest cast! We provided two pavilion tents and with the help of Lady Privateers Bolt and Sea Wolf of the Crew of the Black Pearl, escorted Their Majesties, making much mischief about Freedom Field, the new location of OSRF.

Though it stormed and the faire was postponed for 2 1/2 hours on opening day, the weather turned sunny and gorgeous! The size-conscious Blacksmith was gifted a grand shield, the Spaniard was awarded a barnacle salute, Lady Kaitlin was granted knight's favor, and the Barony of Seleone was presented a daily eighth of cabbage. The peak highlight came of Sir Charles of Knights of Valour paying homage to Queen Michele...from the rear of his person, with full view of his very tight and white undergarment. In reciprocation to this grand gesture by Sir Charles, Queen Michele bid her Consort, Michael, travel to his privvy chamber and return to produce a special favor for Sir Charles...his name was different at this event. Sir Cledriff? Sir Cleft Lip? Sir Cabbage? No, I'd already mentioned the cabbage. But I digress...here I am holding the VERY NEW AND SPARKLINGLY WHITE favor for Michele the Benevolent, my Queen, as she prepares to gift her knight on the joust field.

Queen Michele made a grand speech, and she bid Sir...Cedric? Baldric? ...let us just call him Sir Charles - she big Sir Charles wear her "favor" about his elbow, and he obeyed. She dubbed him "Sir Tighty Whities" and he jousted in full glory, as is evidenced here:

In point of fact, Sir Charles declared he would wear this favor ALL SEASON for his Knights of Valour jousts. Huzzah to Queen Michele!!!

The Cast Aways Open Theatre Troupe flew the Fox Moon Flag of Scarlet's Midwinter Renaissance Festival proudly at the OSRF 2008 Royal Court!

Much love to St. John's Episcopal Church, and special gratitude and affection to Queen Donna of the Gulf Hills Resort, as we are forever in her debt!

Swamp Celtic Festival in Gonzalez, LA - April 12, 2008.

Cabers! Men in kilts!! Scottish umbrellas! More men in kilts!

Queen Anne of the Cast Aways performed knighting and lady ceremonies to benefit the Celtic Society of Louisiana. The Swamp Celtic Festival is a ladies' playground!

Cher of Krewe of Wenches invited us to march with them in the French Quarter Festival Parade on Friday morning, April 11, 2008. Staging at the Royal Sonesta, CAST AWAYS WENCHES Madison, Corissa and Dionne along with Rogue Cade joined the ranks of the fabulous ladies of the Krewe of Pirate Wenches!! My favorite part was pirating the firemen!!! Ha!

Cast Aways Madison, Justin, Dionne and Dylan traveled to Biloxi MS on March 29 for Hadrian's Wall, hosted by the SCA Barony of Seleone. We found our Spaniard Albert and our Norman Rex and enjoyed a day of dance and pageantry ending in a sumptuous feast!

    Pensacola Renaissance Festival 2008

Our love to Steve Melei of the Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire for inviting us to his Pensacola Renaissance Festival! We met up with Ocean Springs Ren Fest Royalty to assure all may adore Queen Donna and learn to worship Queen Michele. Crew of the Black Pearl pirates assisted in much mischief...and FLOGGING! A MOST mundane gypsy posed with a resplendent Spaniard for a face-off to launch a thousand Velvet Ladies.

Lady Madison made her brocade debut and found out that hoopskirts can hold quite the stash - to bursting, even! Wench Rissa acquired corkscrew and MOST MANLY PIRATES for hoop implosion repair. Knights of Valour were gleamy as always, with Sir Michael stealing the show when he "fell" for the crowd. TWICE! Recently-Captured Cast Away Cade contributed non-inflating hot air toward the evidence of Sudden Balloon Man Syndrome. Tall Dark Jeff and Justin C. made slavehood look chivalrous, Justin B. slowly clothed himself with everything but a strand of beads, the Void threatened to consume THE WORLD, Rachel W. swelled to cuteness not before seen, SCA David pledged his Cast Awayness (YAY!) and Keith C. gave us each personal reason to strap his breeches to a stool come Ocean Springs Ren Fest in May.

We visited the Jane Austen Festival in Mandeville on Saturday, February 18, 2008. Mary D. won first place in the Not-So-Plain Jane Contest. Congrats to you, McGarber. Dionne C. won honorary mention in the same costume contest, and Dylan C. won a giant white chocolate rabbit for his portrayal of Austen's Mr. Darcy. Justin B. handed out his roses. Brandi, Russell, Jenny W. and Gena were also there to enjoy the day. Best part was dinner at Mamacita's! YUM!

Many, many thanks to the Arts Market of New Orleans!

Our lovely Audrey poses with Lestat, Claudia and Nicholas. Kudos to McGarber Mary D. for her glorious backdrop of vamp attire!

Our video team was shining the brightest cameras in the darkest corners of the Howlin' Wolf as we interviewed patrons of the Vampire Lestat Witching Hour Ball. Below, our "Press" Man makes a manly stance with a bold-shirted friend

.or fiend? You be the judge!

BabelCon 2007 - See Blog and Pics!

Thanks to our fabulous volunteers pictured above, the Cast Aways are welcomed back next year to BabelCon in Baton Rouge! Way to geaux, ya'll!

    Scarborough Faire 2007!!!!

Memorial Day weekend was a dream for wet muddy pirates. The torrential rain inspired a parade pirate mud slalom that made waves...literally...giant brown waves of a pudding consistency...but what a FANTASTIC time!

Mobicon X - The Cast Aways joined up with the WAY COOL lady pirates of the Crewe of the Black Pearl and our most gracious and splendidly garbed friends of the Mobile Renaissance Festival as we set out the Queen's throne and performed knighting ceremonies. Rachel D., Brian H. and Dionne C. literally made "The Dump" on the canned food sculpture contest, but we were noncontenders with the greatness of the Crew of the Black Pearl's massive pirate ship and the Mobile Ren Fest's "Tuna Castle Roll".

The rebirth of Marrus animated below is candid proof that this con was simply a blast!

We made lots of new friends including Sir Justin of Roses, who is now a prominent and beloved Cast Away! A special mention of sweet adoration to our Candyman as well.

    OSRF 2007

All hail the Knights of Valour!

Our trip to the Ocean Springs Renaissance Festival was no less than JOUSTASTIC! A gracious entrance parade invite and welcome by the Faire sur la Mer banquet was extended to us

    .

With this amazing start, the fun kept building from our wenches' cheering section for Sir William of Knights of Valour on Saturday to the rainbow boa-favored Sir Michael jousting to end the weekend. The ice toss in the beer booth was a highlight, as well as the outspoken invite by DJ of Knights of Valour for us to dine with the jousters at the Shed. Huzzah to OSRF! Thanks to the hospitality of members of St. John's Episcopal Church, many of us were offered a wonderful place to stay. This faire is a most beloved annual event for the Cast Aways!

    PyrateCon 2007

The Cast Aways participated in the first ever ALL PIRATE Conference in New Orleans Louisiana April 20-22! Be a friend of the PyrateCon MySpace.

    Bedlam Bards Shindig Tour 07

Cedric and Hawke of the Bedlam Bards performed at the Kitchen, home of the Celtic Society of Louisiana. Thanks to Marty and many dear friends, the event was a shiny success! I think the CD wenches (provided by Cast Aways of course!) did a great job, but I may be biased in that respect. Hee!

Interview from the throne, Celtic style! The Swamp Celtic Festival in Gonzalez, LA, welcomed our knighting ceremonies as the guys tossed telephone poles. Woohoo! Men in kilts!!

33rd ANNUAL OCEAN SPRINGS – ELKS MARDI GRAS PARADE

January 27, 2007 - The Ocean Springs Mardi Gras Parade was the rainiest day of garbed fun to be had.

The Ocean Springs Renaissance Festival, hosted by our dear friends of St. John's Episcopal Church of Ocean Springs, MS, invited costumed members of the Cast Aways Open Theatre Troupe as special walking guests in the parade.

The rain did not dampen our spirits. Here a young Cast Away stands stoic, Visquined against the elements. The rain did not deter the crowds either, which was in some places 10 people deep!

The 2006 Vampire Lestat Ball was a SMASHING SUCCESS thanks to the efforts of les Temps des Vampires. The ball took place at Rosy's Jazz Hall, right here in New Orleans! You can take a look at the official MySpace page for the event:

    Halloween 2006 in Carencro, LA!

Jackie C. held a Halloween Haunted House bash to benefit an event local to Lafayette. Great job setting up the house, Jackie, and what a howlingly fun time we all had!

    Scarby 2006

THE Danielle experienced the joys of Cast Awayness during our visit to Scarby 2006. She is solely responsible for finding "dee keeyz to dee varrdo" for Dasveed Anya, but that's a story worthy of indepth discussion with certain members of our own Tribe Obtroose.

NOLA Independent Artists and The Cast Aways Open Theatre Troupe are currently involved in a joint venture!

The Plunder of New Orleans is an independent short film at NOLA Independent.com. The film stars members of the Cast Aways, was shot by Christopher Brown and is being editted by Joseph R. Vance and Brandon Dunaway.

Here is a scene from The Plunder of New Orleans, which can be viewed at NOLAindependent.com

A photo of the shoot, with Joseph R. Vance not quite so hidden in the grass directing our pirates. Huzzah to Joseph!

A slew of our Cast Aways, pillaging the AMC Elmwood Cinema in Jefferson, LA as a shipless crew of Depp-starved pirates, viewed the movie in garb on July 8, 2006. Following the movie, we dined in true pirate style at a favorite French Quarter restaurant, The Alpine. Kindra Coates, aka Captain Stormblown Kate, quizzed our piratical savvy with a booty-filled game of Privateer Jeopardy. Thanks for the yummy chocolate gold, Kindra! Magic Mike of Haunted History Tours wowed us with card tricks galore, then led us on a private pirate tour.

The weekend of July 29 - 30, 2006, Gerald "Biff" Henthorne hosted our Cast Aways Camping Social on the grounds of his family plant nursery in Norwood, LA. Dylan Charlet, tutored the night before by Keith Charlet, and assisted by Joseph Vance, set up a convention-grade projector to project onto a 10' x 14' outdoor movie screen. Carole Bolt, aka Lightning Bolt, and Cathy Goren, aka Sea Wolf, thoroughly entertained us with their AWESOME POTC: COTBP Interactive!
