About me:
At WAM!, we're dedicated to a simple mission:
To bring together everyone who has a stake in achieving gender justice in media, in order to share facts and ideas, develop skills, build collaborations, bridge differences and create action plans.
Every year, WAM! brings together hundreds of leading thinkers, journalists and activists who have a stake in achieving gender justice in media. Last year, 600 attendees came from 29 states and 9 countries – and their reach was even greater than that. They came from television, film, radio, print and new media, universities, arts and entertainment, and social justice organizations.
WAM! is carefully designed with an inclusive structure and tone, and a welcoming atmosphere that facilitates in-depth discussion, ongoing connections, and the exchange of new ideas.
WAM! provides space for media producers, PR strategists, journalists, activists, academics, community organizers, feminists, funders and philanthropists, “citizen” media watchdogs, media policy advocates, alternative-network-builders, bloggers, writers, teachers, artists, technology trainers, cartoonists, deejays, and many others to address the myriad of issues impacting women, girls and our global communities. And WAM! gets results – through the Conference, local chapters, and the year-round online community, WAM!mers help each other place op-eds and articles, get powerful media jobs, leverage new technology, hold the media accountable, produce and promote books, films, and other projects, get stories told about our lives and work, and change the very structure of the media itself.
Check out our website at www.centerfornewwords.org!
While you're there, let us know what else is happening for women in Boston on our Community Calendar, and find a job, a roommate, a new idea or a friend on our Discussion Boards!
Of course, you'll want to see what and who's coming to CNW next, which is all on our Upcoming Events page.
And you can also download or watch some of our past events right here.

Who I'd like to meet:
If you care about amplifying progressive women’s voices in the media, WAM! is for you. Whether you’re a media producer, a PR strategist, a journalist, an activist, an academic, a community organizer, a feminist, a funder or philanthropist, a “citizen” media watchdog, a media policy advocate, an alternative-network-builder, a blogger, writer, teacher, artist, technology trainer, cartoonist, deejay, or anything else!
Everyone is welcome at our programs, regardless of age, gender, class, race, ethnicity, religion or sexuality. We especially welcome those of us whose voices are often silenced or ignored, including women of color, poor and working class women, women with disabilities, lesbians, bisexual women, genderqueers, and transpeople (both MTF and FTM).
