Chris Akinyemi (Flashbackz)
... Flashbackz is an Indie/Hip-Hop duo created by Chris Akinyemi and Aaron ‘D-boy’ Monroe. Chris Akinyemi born to Nigerian parents is a singer/songwriter/guitarist/pianist/rapper – he hails from the northern part of New Jersey. He moves his audience with unique vocals, visual storytelling and catchy melodies. His latest collaboration with the Nigerian sensational rapper (B-One) titled “Ki lo de” (‘what’s good’) has gained immense popularity in clubs/lounges in the NY Tri-State area, Nigeria and The UK.
Chris grew up under the musical influences of various genres and various artists such as: Usher, Maxwell, Pharrell, Lenny Kravitz, Brian McKnight, Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men, New Edition, Jagged Edge and many more…which then inspired him to put his thoughts on paper. He has written over 600 songs, which are presently in production. Even at the tender age of six, he realized that music was indeed his passion, which led him to join the church choir. In addition, Chris is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Pennsylvania State University. He credits his love for music/musical instruments to a family member who bought him his first guitar at age ten, and since then, his love for music has had no bounds.
Influenced by Acoustic, Alternative, Hip Hop and Pop music, he combines them to create melodies that are distinct thus can never be forgotten. Indeed, the world is about to witness what has almost been forgotten in the history of musicianship… A writer who creates music that truly speaks to the soul!
