Council of One is the musical manifestation of guitarist Chris Oberst. Chris plays a unique style that veers between jazz, rock and avant garde. Although Chris has a background in rock-based instrumentals (think Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson), Council of One represents a turn toward an improvisation-centered style of jazz that is amped up, edgy, and unconcerned with any musical boundaries recognized by the so-called “experts.” Inspired by the heady days of the New Thing and fusion jazz in the ‘60s and ‘70s, but rooted firmly in today and tomorrow, Council of One is on a journey to explore new sonic frontiers and take the listener to new places.
All Council of One albums are fully available for free download at the CoO BandCamp site.
The current album, Saturation, is a series of guitar and drum duets, inspired by the great John Coltrane and filtered through a skewed sensibility.
The previous album, One Day in August, is a single, 48-minute improvised piece that morphs through several stages and features searing and sophisticated guitar work throughout. You can download a 7 1/2 minute excerpt at the CoO Soundclick page.
The first album, One Week in December, is composed of a variety of mostly improvised jazz/rock pieces If you want a CD version of this album, you can buy that through CD Baby by clicking this link:
525 Eastern Blvd. Essex, MD 21221 410-391-8919 Show starts at 10:00 No opening band!!!
Our goal is to present a mix of Maiden's classic repertoire from the Dickinson and DiAnno eras (No Blaze Bayley- you're welcome!!!) alongside some of the more obscure favorites. This way, everyone from the casual fan who likes the hits - to the die-hard who knows every lyric to every song - will leave the show feeling satisfied. Even "Eddie" has been known to make a cameo appearance on stage with us.
Seventh Son is comprised of the following:
Gordon Tittsworth - founder/vocalist of the progressive-metal band Images of Eden.
Dave DeMarco - plays with the prog band Oblivion Sun, and Van Halen Tribute, Everybody Wants Some.
James Goetz - drummer of Division as well as Images of Eden (just recently announced), but is playing guitar for us!
Randy Ellefson - has his own instrumental metal band and has released 2 CDs of original music, The Firebard and Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid.
Vince Barille - is a founding member of local sensations Cloudbreak and plays with Wes McDonough.
Thans for the kudos on the Maiden thing. Sorry just getting to this now. We appreciate the support and hopefully we'll see you out at the next SS show.
but first off - thanks for trekking up to baltimore for the Seventh Son show. Your feedback was very cool too...

The Agile is truly an awesome instrument. I just have really fallen in love with it. I'm hoping to post some music soon I just need more hours in the day.
As you can see I'm a bit behind, but I see Matt already beat me here! lol!
Anyhow, thanks for coming out to the show! Glad that you enjoyed our new material too! And I can't thank you enough for the help getting us on and off of stage. That was a pretty screwy time so it was great having some help work through that.
Also thanks for the little comment you left with the request. You are quite the shredder yourself! I'm really digging Random Light, some awesome phrasing in that on(OK, all of them)! The time sig pattern in Phase 3 (4/4 - 6/8 during verses) is cool too!
Much thanks for the compliments! It's nice to hear that things out front sounded okay. Especially the vocals - no monitors makes for a tough singing environment.
Hey, Chris, thanks for the friend request! And thanks for all the help last night too. Yes, crazy stories. I'm sure Rick has told you plenty of others. :)
You can preorder the new CD Deathanity as of today.
Deathanity is the latest effort from Odin’s Court, a Maryland, USA band. Deathanity is an ambitious concept album dealing with the effects mankind’s actions are having on the planet. Alternate views are offered through the use of instrumentation, lyrics, sound effects, and various vocal clips. Ambience, dynamics, and soul are combined with complexity, groove, and energy in a song oriented structure, to create a unique, surreal landscape. Each song, dealing with a different theme, is accompanied by a newly created word and definition in the album art. Special guest vocalists include Tom Englund (Evergrey) and Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica).
Hi Chris....Nice to see you here in MySpace! I'm enjoying what you are up to, and look forward to seeing where you take your music. As to Nic C., I'm sure he'd find something equally as unflattering to say about your music as he did about mine. I feel like I'm in good company.......
hey chris! thanks so much for listening to us, we really appreciate it. it was likewise great to meet with you in D.C.! hope we'll get to come back one of these days! happy new year, zing!
