I am so sad for your loss. I have read every word and watched the videos of Chris. I can't help but cry with you.My prayers are with your loved ones left behind Chris. Rest in Peace my Brother... - Jim Francis, Wed, 29 Jul 2009 2:13PM
I am so proud to have served my country during Desert Storm. I was a helicoptor pilot over there in the Marines. I want all Americans to know that if it was not for the Miltary fighting over there there would be no Freedom for anyone. God Bless All Soldiers still over there and keep them safe and watch over their families back home. God Bless You.- Robert Lambeth, Wed, 29 Jul 2009 8:17AM
THE SACRIFICE YOUR SON TOOK IS AMAZING. MY SON SERVED OVER THERE AND NOW MY DAUGHTER IS FIXING TO BE DEPLOYED THERE. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY YOU HAVE A SON TO BE COMPLETELY PROUD OF. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU - Rhonda, Thu, 23 Jul 2009 11:06AM
I never knew the pain and heartache of losing a brother on the battlefield...Desert Storm was over too quick for that, thank God.It was not until I left the Army and became a Police Officer that I lost a friend, make that, several friends who died in the line of duty. The hurt never goes away. When you lose a friend, a brother, with whom you have fought and shed blood...shared long, cold nights when no one else would stand up and do it, laughed together and just enjoyed life; there is nothing that ever takes that pain away.I cherish the memories of my fallen brothers, just as you cherish Chris, and I smile when I recall the things that we did together and then I cry when I recall the night that they were taken away. No one can ever take those memories.
I thank Chris for giving his life for our country, it is men like him that have made this country over the years...and it is men like him that will continue to keep us free, as well as those who will come home and go on to enjoy the freedoms that we have. I thank you for having a son like Chris. A son who was firm in his faith, believed in his God and his country. As a parent, "You done good!" as my papaw used to say. God Bless you and your family, and never let Chris' memory grow dim! Marty Penny #994 & K-9 Max

Hi there, I don't know you but I just wanted to say thank you for what you did for this country. I was in the army but never made it past AIT due to fracturing my hip and having to have another knee surgery. I wish that I would have had the chance to serve our country for for a longer amount of time and gotten to experience Iraq. But once again I just wanted to say thank you for all that you did and all that you have done.

I did not know you sir but, your sacrifice will never be forgotten. I'm an Iraq War vet, but in no way consider myself your equal. The saying goes, " Some gave all and, all gave some." You gave all. You are a member of an elite group now. I had my chance but was not given such an honor as you were. To some that may sound crazy but, to those who were in country, it was the level most desired. It's what fuels the will to fight. Cpl. CHRIS MASON you knew that all to well. Your memory will now live forever with honor in the name of God, Country, and FREEDOM..THANK YOU- Mark Kephart, Mon, 6 Jul 2009 10:17AM
I found your sons profile on my sons friends list on myspace. We lived in Mobile, Alabama for many years and my son graduated from Baker High School. He is also an 82nd Airborne Paratrooper. My son is 22 years old and is a Sgt. His MOS is 88 Mike. He is getting ready to deploy for a second tour in Iraq next month. Your son sounds like he was a really great person. Believed in what he was doing and willing to die for it. Makes me think of my son. Respect!!! I am sorry for your loss but am greatful for people like your son and mine. Will keep you in my prayers and please pray for my son on his deployment. His name is Sgt. Robert Shortsleeves.- Shelly Coolidge, Sun, 5 Jul 2009 6:53PM

As I read Chris's myspace page, I reminded myself that God has a plan for all of us. Its men like Chris, and my brother, Dale, that honor Him in everything they do. I am thankful that Dale came home to us alive. Everyday I pray for the men and women that still have to fight. Thank you for allowing us to view your memories of him. Thank you Chris, for fighting for Him and our country. With love and prayers, Jen P.- Jen P., Wed, 10 Jun 2009 9:50PM

I just want to thank you for giving us your all. I know that its hard for us to say. How sorry we are for the people that has gave there life for this cause. I was over there back in Desert Storm. I wish I could have had the chance to meet such a remarkable young man. It's soldiers like him who make me appreciate our military even more. I'm a veteran and have served myself, but never in combat. I appreciate all you've done to raise such a wonderful person like Chris. I hope it's a comfort that we'll all meet him when our King Jesus returns. Thank you for making the effort to keep his memory alive by maintaining such a vast profile. God bless you richly with peace, love and joy in the Holy Ghost. - Marilyn, Sun, 24 May 2009 11:25PM

I cried as I looked at this page. I am so sorry for your loss. As family members we too give up so much and lose at times as well. I have two beautiful little girls and their daddy has served 3 tours in Iraq, although he physically came back, mentally and emotionally he did not. I am now a single mother of these two beautiful girls and their daddy is set for another tour. I keep all family members in prayer as well as those serving on the front lines of this war. Thank you for sharing his life with all of us.- Teri, Sun, 10 May 2009 12:14PM
Tears fill my eyes as I read the messages on Chris's page. Of a man that gave his life so that I may enjoy the freedom that we all have. To his parents and family, my heart goes out to you. What an honor it will be for me to add Chris to list of friends. To forever look forward to the day I will meet him face to face in heaven and to be able to tell him "Thankyou". First of all, Chris if can see this, thank you for your service in the military. To the Mason family, I'm truely sorry for your loss! My name is Tex Shadley and I'm a Christian and I'm married to a beautiful wife named Laura. We have one son who is 2 and his name is Christian Michael. I was looking at the page for Chris and while I was listening to the music and looking at everything,I began to cry. I couldn't the pain you all must of felt, but it did make me feel good to know the kind of man Chris was. It is inspiration to any man! I can tell how much he loved God! My grandfather served in the Army and was in WWII. My uncle was in the army as well and served in Korea. I have a brother in the Marines and he is in Japan right now. My wife has a cousin who is in the Marines. He was Iraq fro a while, but now they have him in Califronia right now. My brother might be going to Afghanastan. But I just wanted to tell you all, that I'm praying for you. You know I'm reminded of the song by Jeremy Camp,"There will be a day". I love that song. There will be a day where there will be no more pain,no more tears, no more fear, no more bad stuff at all. Praise God, I'm looking forward to that day! May God Bless you all and hang on to Jesus!- Tex Shadley, Thu, 7 May 2009 4:55PM
Mr. Mason~ I have kept up with your tribute in Chris's honor and have been honored to view his profile on Myspace often. I am a soldier advocate and working with The Centre For Neuro Skills and the VA to fight Congress for better treatment for our brain injured soldiers who are coming home with little or no assistance from the US Government. This is an outrage and I have been working hard to get the message out to fellow Americans. We had a Walk for Thought recently for the Brian Injury Association of America and of course my Focus was for the United States Servicemen and Women. I know Chris is with God and his purpose here was served for 32 years of sharing messages with fellow Americans who would have likely not heard what God needed them to hear. Chris was chosen by God for the people of the United States of America. I watch a majority of Liberal Americans have absolutely no regard for our troops and I promise you and especially Chris, I will never stop fighting and I will NEVER be quiet or rest. I have two small children to hand this Nation over to and they WILL know about Chris and all other soldiers serving this country and the REASON for it. ~God Bless Our Troops~- Angie Bishop, Wed, 6 May 2009 10:02AM
Thank you for sharing this with everyone. Its a good way to keep his memory alive. you should be very proud of him. I am and don't even know him . reading about chris is a great inspirational for everyone to look at. I'm sorry for your loss, and may god be with all of his family and friends.- Deborah Murphy, Mon, 27 Apr 2009 3:30PM

Thank you for sharing the life and story of such a special man and hero.I have stood for several fallen heroes and it never gets easier.I keep the program for each one and have a special place in my home for them. If anyone asks, I tell them about the special men and women I had the opportunity to honor.Cpl Mason will forever be watching over his fellow comrades and family. God Bless You and thank you- Donna, Wed, 15 Apr 2009 10:39PM - For every PGR funeral I attend for a fallen soldier, I try to collect the funeral program. It contains the picture of the soldier, as well as life info. I have the dash of my Silverado lined with (all too many) of these. I NEVER want the faces, names, or life information of these brave souls to be forgotten.I read every beautiful word on this page, and am going to print out Cpl Masons pic to add to my dashboard. My line of soldiers......- Eileen, Wed, 15 Apr 2009 10:05PM
Chris lived such a powerful life - I know I would have loved to know him. I saw in the video when he said "what I like to say is, we are the fabric that holds the flag together..." when he was talking about serving his country and "...because of America, this world is a better place." I am thankful that he also reminded us that there is a war going on here at home as well, a war for our soul and the souls of all Americans. And that the enemy uses real weapons against us to keep us from the knowledge of the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, so WE must continue to fight! Thank you for Honoring this AWESOME AND AMAZING AMERICAN!Love in Christ,Michelle - aka Freedom Fighter

Chris, not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I pray everyday for you, your family, and the ones who cared so much for you. Even though I was one of your first team leaders I cannot explain how much you have taught me. As I continue my journey through life just know that you hold a special place in my heart. My wife, Ellen, has never seen me cry but everytime I watch the videos of you and listen to your powerful words I get choked up and begin to cry. I came across this wonderful memorial tribute site while on Halfway to Hazard's website. I cried while reading and viewing this page. Your son was and is an American Hero. I really appreciate the sacrifice that your son, and family have given. I am in the 10th grade and the other day we were discussing the war and sacrifices of the wonderful and also in my opinion, Heaven sent soldiers. I really am thankful. Now you and your family have your own guardian angel in heaven. Words can't explain the struggle and sacrifice that the soldiers have given. This website tribute is beautiful. Your son was and is an amazing man. May God Bless you and your family, and espically Chris in Heaven.- Jacki, Fri, 9 Jan 2009 5:47PM
A TEAR ROLLED FROM MY EYE FOR SOMEONE I DON'T EVEN KNOW!
-TONY LEVERETT,3 Jan 2009To the Mason family,Our son served with Chris at FOB Summerall and I can't tell you how many times we have shed tears for the troopers that were lost over there. We are deeply moved by this ongoing tribute to your son.We had the privilege of visiting Ft.Bragg earlier in December as the 1-505 PIR was redeploying to Iraq and I went to the museum honoring the 82nd Airborne. While there I saw the memorial to the fallen troopers of the 82nd and specifically found each of the troopers from the 1-505, including your son, Chris.I could not help but wipe tears from eyes as I thought of the loss each family has endured, but also the loss to our country from the self-sacrifice of the men and women serving in our military-May God Bless each of them. Our son is currently the CO of the Rear Detachment and is studying to become a chaplain. The videos of Chris and his personal testimony are a powerful message of what Christ means in one's life!!! Thank you for sharing the powerful memories of your son with all of us. We trust the Lord gives you strength each day to face down the evil one and to always remember there are others that remember and care as well.

- Dave | myspace.com/floridaspacecase,18 Dec 2008As i remember chris he was a strong man of faith. The bullfighter that brought many of bullriders to god. A prayer before each event. The church services before the saturday proformance. The man all riders loved to see in the pen. He had your back in any storm. He'd step in an take a horn to get you out. The man called chris is not just one of the best. He was sent by god for all of us. Not just the bull riders that helped to get a bull off of or that soldier that he fought beside. A man sent by god to protect us all. Chris you had my back in every bullrideing. I know you had your fellow soldiers back as well. You're a good man an always will be.
