Who I'd like to meet: Hello. Thanks for taking the time to check out my site. If you are in need of original artwork there are a few guidelines you may find helpful when approaching me for commission work.
I work fairly fast. For example, Roger Miret called me on a Wednesday to see if I was interested in illustrating the New AF album. Without hesitation I said YES! and then he told me the label needed finished art by that following Monday. I showed him 6 rough sketches, he chose one, and we were able to meet that deadline. The reason we were able to do it was because he had a general idea of what he wanted. Fortunately, that opportunity gave me a ton of exposure and for that I am forever grateful. I take pride in my work and I'm always trying to improve with each piece I do. I try not to take on too many jobs because I want to be able to create a good product and have you satisfied with the end result. So unfortunately my availability is clearly my biggest issue.
BUT...If you have a general idea of what you need I can usually get the job done. For example if two people approach me wanting t shirt designs, one guy wants a zombie impaling a priest's head with a flying V, the other guy wants something that illustrates "Life" I'm going to do the zombie shirt. Not because I only like drawing zombies but because I can immediately start visualizing different designs. "Life" is way too general and the creative gears come to a screeching halt. Also please don't ask me to rehash a drawing idea I did for another band/project. I prefer to try and do something fresh. I want new challenges. You can reference something you like but together we can come up with a unique approach.
A lot of people ask me for rates. It depends on the complexity of the piece. I'm not going to charge a band the same amount for a black and white 7" cover as I would if I were to do a full color poster. Believe me I'm very reasonable. Keep in mind I'm also a musician. I've been playing bass in bands since I was 15. Including Cold As Life and Ricochet out of Detroit. I know bands don't have a lot of loose change laying around. I'm lucky this is an outlet for me. This is a excellent way for me to feel like I'm contributing to the music scene. My day job is that of a advertising storyboard artist who works with a variety of clients like, BMW, Nike, Guinness, Disney, etc. creating commercials . That's how I feed my family.
If you decide to work with me, I will listen to your ideas, then roughly sketch the idea(s) down on paper, scan them into the computer, and email them to you as jpegs. This will give you the opportunity to see the direction I am heading in and give you the chance to be a part of the creative process. You can then tell me "Hey I like this direction, go with that... but can you add /delete this ..?" I will then make the necessary revisions if any, and present to you camera ready artwork via emailed jpgs and/or a CDR with the artwork mailed to you. I prefer payment thru PayPal.
Thanks for reading this long winded essay. I ain't no writer. Oh, and please no tattoo design requests.
Craig.
You and your wife are soo fun to hang out with!! Glad to get the chance to hang, if even for a little while! I absolutely messed up your flier... working in "paint" does no justice at all for your art. just sayin', lol. Thanks again!! Send me a good post office addy or so, so I can send out some stuff to you and Rose.

This year were going to do it again!!! This year it will be
held Saturday July 18, 2009.
@ The New Way in Ferndale,
MI (on Woodward Ave).
As many of you know, Squirrel (lead singer of the Detroit Oi
band - The Cavity Creeps, and long time punk scene supporter) has renal
disease, kidney failure, and relies on dialysis treatments 3 times a week for 4
½ hours each time to stay alive! I’ve been on the kidney transplant list since
2006. Things don’t always get better for people on dialysis as this is after
all an artificial way to do what your body is to be doing naturally!
We are looking for companies
& bands to donate items for a ‘door prize’ and ‘raffle’ drawing. Such as
cd’s, t-shirts, gift certificates, ad space in your magazine/zine and anything
else.
WE ALSO NEED BANDS WHO’D LIKE TO PLAY THE BENEFIT!!
If you can help in any way please contact me with what you
can help with!
As in the last 2 years we have got allot press (newspapers,
radio) and noted by the NKF themselves…you will defiantly get exposure!
How’s it going? We are playing a benefit for KAOS radio this Saturday at around 6pm at Snake Eyes Vinyl, and the line up is awesome!!! Blood of Patriots, Sober Daze, Destroyed for Comfort, The Dead Kings, The Fascist Pussy, The Dickins!! Hope you can come out, it should be a fun day!!
Come hang out with Striking South this Friday, June 12th at The Token
Lounge in Westland. The first ten people through the door will receive
a free Striking South CD!! Hope to see you there!!
