"Singer/Songwriter Craig Greenberg, after spending a couple of years as a wandering musician, seeking out his own sound and voice on the streets and in the bars of South America and Spain, returned to his home country (and home city of New York), in late 2004. Craig, a largely self-taught musician who writes and performs on both piano and guitar, is known for his soulful, endearing (and at times, in your face) vocals and his general strong musicality. His sound has been compared to artists such as Ben Folds, Billy Joel, Coldplay, Randy Newman, Dave Matthews, and Paul Simon. Craig's songs, in content and feel, run the gamut from light-hearted and tounge and cheek, to quite dark and edgy. It's this range that sets him apart as a songwriter. Since returning stateside, Craig has toured, opening dates for NYC and Portland, OR based songwriter Jerry Joseph (Jackmormons, Stockholm Syndrome) at shows in the northwest and northeast, and in Costa Rica over a New Year's '05 and '06 run of shows. He has also played solo dates in Spain, the US Virgin Islands (St. John Songfest), California, Florida, Colorado, Wisconsin, and Oregon. Craig has had the privilege of performing with Jackson Browne on several occasions, most recently accompanying him on piano in front of a crowd of over 6,000 (video posted on this site), as part of Steel Bridge Songfest 4-a benefit concert in Sturgeon Bay, WI, hosted by veteran songwriter Pat mAcdonald (Timbuk 3). At the same festival, Craig has also performed with Jane Wiedlin (the Go-Go's), Victor DeLorenzo (Violent Femmes), and many others. In September of '06, Craig's politically charged song "No Evasion" (currently in music player) got selected as one of the top "Songs of the Times" on Neil Young's website (www.neilyoung.com), reaching as high as 87 out of 500 on a popularity ranking, alongside songs from artists such as Ben Harper, Kris Kristofferson, Crosby & Nash, and Bright Eyes. Recently he was nominated for a Hoboken Music Award for Best Surrounding Area Singer/Songwriter. Craig has also performed and/or worked with several members (previous and current) of George Clinton and P-Funk, and Eric Burdon and the Animals, including Eric McFadden (EMT, Stockholm Syndrome), Kim Manning, Bernie Worrell, Shaunna Hall (Electrofunkadelica, 4 Non-Blondes), and Paula O'Rourke (Tiny), and, has sat-in with Ben Harper sideman, songwriter Tom Freund. Currently, Craig is performing around downtown NYC - past venues include the Living Room, BB King's, Rockwood Music Hall, Pianos, Banjo Jims, the Bitter End, Caffe Vivaldi, Sidewalk Cafe, et.al, both with his own project, and also accompanying IMO Records singer/songwriter Lionel Neykov (www.myspace.com/lionelneykov). In November of '07, Craig co-produced and released his first EP, entitled "The World and Back" (AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE ON THIS SITE!), and is now in pre-production for his second release, which he hopes to be completed by the end of 2009.
