jonah smith and his band have been touring and recording together for over five years. for being cramped into a tiny van together for so long, they get along pretty well.
in 2005, jonah signed a record deal with relix records (as in the magazine) and entered the studio with producer, lee townsend. the album which took over a year to complete (not consecutively, though -- as it turns out jonah can be extremely lazy) is considered to be a personal statement by jonah. no studio trickery. just a band playing music in a really nice room captured for your enjoyment (we hope)....the record does have some special guests including the mason brothers on horns and the legendary garth hudson on accordian, bill frisell on guitar and carrie rodriguez on vocals and fiddle.
their previous two albums have been acclaimed by critics and fans alike. "striking" says the boston globe. "music industry meets it's future" raves the New York Post. jonah's songs have been downloaded more than a million times and his fan base spreads across the globe (twenty people, strategically placed). jonah and the band have toured in europe five times and have been hither and tither, back and forth across america several times as well. jonah tried counting all of the miles he'd travelled in 2006, but quickly ran out of fingers and toes (by most estimates it's been said that he could have circled the globe at least once)
their music is played on radio stations, t.v. shows (mostly soap operas) and has won a few contests here and there (one of which won them several pairs of blu blocker sunglasses). they have also played at several festivals including Bonnaroo, SXSW, the allgood music fest (wv), the gathering of the vibes (ny), smilefest (nc), CMJ, granollers jazz festival (spain), cazorla blues festival (spain), et. al.
in a recent conversation with jonah's stylist it was revealed that there are plans being formulated right now to give jonah an extreme makeover so as to make him more "emo". meanwhile the record company is taking meetings to decide "who they want jonah to be". stay tuned to see the exciting results!

I never thanked you for adding me. It's funny how I discovered you. I was @ a show @ the house blues Hollywood, Ca to see Martin Sexton perform when all of a sudden I get hit in the face by a CD. I go to pick it up and it's of you. I thought some one was giving them away or something. They weren't, some guy got so excited listening to Martin that he lost the cd he was holding and it flew out of his hand. The guy said that he had just bought it and he decided that he wanted to give it to me for accidentely throwing it at my face. I listened to it that night on the drive home a I LOVED IT. I listen to it almost every morning. Great Music! I play it for my unborn son through my girls belly. Iknow he love's it too. Just like dad. You rock man!!!!
Hey Jonah! Thanks so much for coming to Philly again! I just got tickets to your show at Tin Angel. Can't wait :-) I'll make sure to say hi at the show, so remember me from myspace as Scarlett.
