SONGS FROM THE 3rd YEAR ARE NOW UP TO LISTEN TO!.... .. ..Create This!.. was the name given to two parallel groundbreaking courses in training young people with learning disabilities. The first learning disabled-led training of its kind, the disability arts organization Carousel supported its rock band Beat Express and the dancers from High Spin to deliver year long OCN-accredited courses in music and dance. The courses ran from 2007 to 2010, by which time a large number of musicians and dancers were supported by Carousel. This MySpace page is here to all who wish to look back over what has been accomplished by the musicians within three years. .... HOW IT STARTED .. The idea for Create This! happened as a result of all the outreach projects run by Beat Express in schools and colleges for people with learning disabilities around East and West Sussex. Because the outreach projects produced work of great quality, Beat Express and Carousel imagined what could be accomplished if they had a whole year to work and train young musicians with learning disabilities. ...... The ..FIRST COURSE.. ran from September 2007 to July 2008, and featured seven people with and without musical experience. The students produced great group and solo songs, and gave great performances at the first two Blue Camel Club nights of 2008. It was an extremely successful year. As well as producing the soundtrack to a dance film made by the students on the dance course, the students on the music course wrote and recorded an incredible 27 songs in 30 weeks!.... As a result of the first course, all seven students formed two bands the following February; the heavy metal band called Zombie Crash, and the pop punk duo called The Fuzzbomb Band. .... .. The ..SECOND COURSE.. ran from September 2008 to July 2009, and this time there were eight students, who like the previous students, were a mix of people with and without musical experience. Michael Rowe returned as a tutor to help train the students. The students on the second course wrote and recorded great group and solo songs, performed at the Blue Camel Club, and finished with the soundtrack for the film made by the dancers of that year. The 1st course resulted in 27 tracks being recorded in 30 weeks, yet in 2nd, 36 were recorded! .... After the second course the students started the Graduate course ..The Electric Academy... 2 bands were formed; a heavy metal, rap, punk band called Ghosthearted, and Richard Watson and Dean Baker recorded an album of 8 pop rock songs. .... .. The ..THIRD COURSE.. ran from April to July 2010. Ryan O'Donovan returned to the course as a tutor with the other members of Beat Express. The students worked exceptionally hard, writing 12 songs in 10 weeks and recording 9 for their CD. The gave an amazing performance at the Blue Camel Club and will be going on to join the Electric Academy graduate course after the summer. .... .. After three years of creativity and success, we hope that the features of this MySpace page will take you on a journey through time, to show you that learning disabilities will NEVER take away people's dreams of being musicians. ..

Hello Create This!, The music that flows from your instruments overwhelms me with creativity. If I could have just one wish, it would be to wake up to your songs in the morning. You have not yet reached the height of your creativity. I find your eyes to be a wondrous amusement park filled with neo-plastic pleasures and turkish delights. Your beauty is multiplexed in contemplation of your multidimensional effervescence. Your beauty is equal to the smoothness of a polished gem. The skin I shed is a perfume that makes water bubbles so terribly clear to me. Blinking reveals the true visage of beauty hidden within your eyes. Polished rock candy comes ever to mind when thinking of you. Your cleverness helps me breathe without the need of oxygen. How it passes there and back again like a tear drop glistening in moonlight. The expanse of your beauty is a void no universe could ever fill. I sense wild vapors of sweet champagne in your larynx. A starfish's lifelong hallucinations of gelatin pools and of actuaries floating upon the foam and reciprocal ohm.

Create This! was the name given to two parallel groundbreaking courses in training young people with learning disabilities. HOW IT STARTED

The FIRST COURSE ran from September 2007 to July 2008, and featured seven people with and without musical experience. The students produced great group and solo songs, and gave great performances at the first two Blue Camel Club nights of 2008. It was an extremely successful year. As well as producing the soundtrack to a dance film made by the students on the dance course, the students on the music course wrote and recorded an incredible 27 songs in 30 weeks!

As a result of the first course, all seven students formed two bands the following February; the heavy metal band called Zombie Crash, and the pop punk duo called The Fuzzbomb Band.

The SECOND COURSE ran from September 2008 to July 2009, and this time there were eight students, who like the previous students, were a mix of people with and without musical experience.

After the second course the students started the Graduate course ..The Electric Academy... 2 bands were formed; a heavy metal, rap, punk band called Ghosthearted, and Richard Watson and Dean Baker recorded an album of 8 pop rock songs.

The THIRD COURSE ran from April to July 2010.
