cryptic scenery

Bio:

cryptic scenery is a project run by the german musician, psychologist & author christian h. soetemann and was founded in late 1994. over the years, cryptic scenery has released cds, cd-rs and tapes within a wide horizon of musical styles, mainly oscillating between a hybrid of independent/spheric wave/rock with (and at times without!) a dark edge, ambient and minimalist music. between 1995 and mid-2003, cryptic scenery underwent several band line-ups. since then, c. h. soetemann has continued the project in the so-called "solo line-up", which certainly led to even more varying sonic directions, especially an increase in the output of hypnotic ambient guitar music. since june, 2009, cryptic scenery exists in a two-piece line-up featuring chs and thomas pertzel on saxophone plus additional instruments. the ambient/minimalust/drone direction has been further pursued in recent recordings, some of which will be released in 2010.
