Sometimes dark, but always honest, literate pop-folk....Just one year after having written her very first song, Crystin Byrd had 2 songs receive honorable mention in the highly-esteemed John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2001. This acknowledgment, coupled with the intense creative force and personal discovery that was causing her to break through all the silences in her life, instigated her to bring together a band in 2002 and begin to perform locally. This exposure led to multiple requests for her music for a variety of indie films, all having in common the use of her songs in pivotal life-changing moments on screen. Independently financing and releasing the music, she released a short demo in 2003, “Exhibit B: the demo sessions,” and a full-length album in early 2005, entitled “My Silence," recorded and mixed at Jackpot! Studio with the reknown Larry Crane (Decemberists, Elliott Smith, Sleater-Kinney, etc.) Crystin Byrd’s shimmering and authentic singing voice, gentle vulnerability, wrapped in powerful, award-winning songwriting, can be heard on webcasts (NW Radio, The Feminine Groove, etc), and on radio stations (KPSU, KMUN, WUAG, KEAO, KONI) spanning from her hometown of Portland, Oregon, to North Carolina, and Hawaii.
this is just a quick note to let you know that this is the last chance to get a physical copy of my first album "Pretty Boys and Ugly Girls".
I'm going to release my new album this fall (subscribe to my blog if you want to be informed!) and the first one will then be only available as a download version.
So if you prefer a proper CD - like I do! - a record you can really hold in your hands, with all the artwork and stuff - this is your chance! :-)
Grab your hard copy of "Pretty Boys and Ugly Girls" now on CD Baby while stocks last!

So are you having a lovely spring with your kids out in the parks and such? Have you had any time for music these days? Anyway, hope you are really well. We would love to know what you think of the album if you get a chance to order it. Take care!
Congrats on your new baby! And congrats also on the song "Blue Angel"! What a great song. I'm airing it Monday morning at about 5:20am on KBOO on Anodyne, my new radio show. Todd met me last weekend and we pre-recorded about 90minutes worth of fun, 1 segment of which was songs that he's worked on. Blue Angel -- yeah!! TTYL, JBJ
Congratulations! I thought that might be happening pretty soon:) No good baby girl names off the top of my head. I'd probably name a kid after a sandwich or something so you shouldn't ask me;)
IF you don't have a baby this week, let's spontaneously go get cupcakes or a French something? Or, if while you're having a baby you need ANYTHING, let me know and I'll bring it to you stat...especially if it's a cupcake or a French something :) Love you so much! Ali
