Influences
In the very early years it was all the usual suspects (but this was the first time these bands came around!): Joy Division, The Clash, Beat Happening, Jonathan Richman, Velvet Underground (ok, D & N were not there in the 60's -- their interest in VU was at a moment of revival in the late 80's). Later, D & N discovered the mind-expanding worlds of Can, Soft Machine, Public Image.
In recent years on constant play in their house is early Fairport Convention, Milton Nascimento, Jorge Ben, Shirley Collins, Pentangle, Tim Buckley, Robert Wyatt, Tom Rapp. . . and a lot more not listed here. . .

Ancient History: Damon & Naomi, born and raised in New York City, started playing music together in Galaxie 500, in Boston in 1987 -- Damon played drums and Naomi played bass and occasionally sang. Galaxie 500 broke up in the spring of 1991, just as Damon & Naomi released their first work as a duo -- an EP under the name "Pierre Etoile." At the same time, they start a book publishing company, Exact Change, specializing in Surrealist and other experimental literature and artists' writings. Damon takes care of the editorial aspects, Naomi the design.
Medieval History: From 1992 - 2002, Damon & Naomi release 5 records -- the first with Shimmy Disc and the subsequent ones with Sub Pop Records. A tour with the Japanese band, Ghost, in 1995, is the beginning of a fruitful cross-continental collaboration, culminating with the album "Damon & Naomi with Ghost" (2000, Sub Pop). In 2001 they start to tour as a trio with Ghost's electric guitar hero, Michio Kurihara, and in 2002 release a live CD "Song to the Siren" (Sub Pop) packaged with a DVD of a tour diary filmed by Naomi.
Current Events: In 2005 Damon & Naomi form their own label, 20/20/20, release their album, "The Earth is Blue", and tour the world, with memorable shows in far-flung places such as Istanbul and Seoul and Tokyo. Damon also publishes a book of prose poems, "The Memory Theater Burned" (Turtle Point Press). In 2007, Damon & Naomi follow with the album "Within These Walls", and undertake an even longer tour, first teaming with Boris (!) around the USA, continuing on their own to the UK, Europe, and Japan.
