I play cornet and trumpet mainly, with a few other instruments thrown in for pepper. I'm in about ten bands with Joe Baiza (well, let's see, there's J.B.'s Congress, Scrappers, the Cardovas, and the occasional sit-in with Saccharine Trust, that's app. 3.2). I sometimes compose and lead bands, but I also like improvising with people who just like to play. I drive trucks full of art for a living and that's all the driving I do. Off the clock I walk/bike/busride. I prefer it to the motorcultural inferno we've made for ourselves.
What I'm listening to right now: The Complete Tape Music of Dick Raaijmakers
Raaijmakers is a pioneer in magnetic tape music and electronic music in general. Check him out.
The new piece "Inspire and Disappear" makes use of the HighC graphic composition tool by Thomas Baudel, and is dedicated to Sam Rodia, architect of the Watts Towers, who famously disappeared after finishing(?) them. My apologies to all my real violist friends.
