"Located somewhere amidst the great drama kings of lyrical pop (e.g. Marc Almond, Scott Walker, &c.), Dan Mohr takes a stab at wild, postmodern songwriting and achieves a sort of feverish trance-madness in the process. Gorgeous and finely crafted, Mohr's songs are familiar, but not derivative, and too strangely bold to be anything but bewildering, his acrobatic voice moving effortlessly from overtone throat singing to Tim Buckley to James Hetfield from one note to the next. Mohr also plays in Relaxation Record and DRMWPN." - — M Trecka
Guns, Aloe is the soundtrack to a more theatrical one-man show that Dan developed as part of a residency at Chicago's Links Hall in 2007. The lyrical material on the album is either assembled from or inspired by transcriptions of reality television.
Guns, Aloe is now available from most online digital music retailers, including iTunes, LaLa, Amazon, Rhapsody, Napster, and eMusic.
Thanks for the generous comment Dan. Yes, you do owe me a beer. The CD is great btw, you knew that, right? btw - I was able to get a pair of large diaphragm condenser mics for the 1st but am still in need of a stand with a stereo bar. To tell you the truth again, I am willing to do the recording but cannot make any promises of how it is going to sound.
Since my last computer drive blew up... I'm working on finding previous DVD copies of the film to send out... need to do it soon... just been back and forth from here and Philly working on a horror movie called Jakky Hyde...
