New Orleans based Irish Guitar Man-Singer/songwriter Danny Burns has released his debut record "Grace & Mercy" on TL Records(New Jersey) here in the states in early Jan 08, Danny ( A product of a working musician's family from the Northwest of Ireland) has been on the road as a full-time musician since leaving home in Donegal at the age of 17, Touring Scandanavia,Europe, & America. Pulling from as many different styles and influences as there are musical tastes in the Defectors, while conjuring up every bit of road,dirt & gravel that DB has rolled in or passed over since first setting out from home. Danny's voice and His Band The Defectors style have drawn the comparisons and influences from the likes B.B Kings,Ray Charles, Blue eyed soul man Van Morrison, and folk rocker Richard Thompson,Albert King,Freddie King,Bob Marley. What Danny describes as "Its just roots music" contains elements of Blues, folk ,Hip-Hop, Reggae, Soul, Traditional Music.
On Grace & Mercy, Danny let the listener ride shotgun while taking them on a journey some roads recognizable others unfamiliar. Danny has poored his heart and soul into the record and it has recieved a strong cult like following. Produced by 2 time grammy winner John Ginty(citizencope,robert randolph,john mayer...) at shark studio's Bernardsville N.J over the coarse of 7 long days.
Danny was featured in the critically acclaimed documentary "The Fairytale of New York", about Irish living-legend singer/songwriter Shane McGowan (Pogues) which is aired regularly on Irish National Television. Several years of extensive touring throughout Europe and the United States have allowed for the pleasure of sharing the stage with such greats as The John Ginty Band,The Greencards,Paddy Casey, Damien Dempsey, Seanchai & the Unity Squad,as well as playing the legendary 'Writers Night 'at the Bluebird Cafe Nashville-home to the greats such as Townes Van Zant, Guy Clark, Emmy Lou Harris, Steve Earle...

FGC's got two hometown area shows this weekend! Friday is an all ages extravaganza at the House Cafe in Dekalb, and Saturday is a hometown throwdown at the Abbey Pub in Chicago (Ages 18+).
