About me:
Wanna see me perform stand-up? It's easy-- just go to YouTube.com and search "Danny Ozark." Or check me out at any of the upcoming fine shows posted above. I've performed at numerous venues large and small, and have been the opening act for the legendary band BLONDIE as well as comics from HBO and COMEDY CENTRAL. Doing stand-up is weird for sure, but enormously fun and something I was destined to do. I feel blessed to have picked up many cool new friends and fans off guest appearances on the highly-rated, nationally-known "KIDD CHRIS SHOW" radio program. It's also where the story broke about my nefarious involvement with "PANTYGATE"-- a two-day hysteria in Summer 2007 that generated some national coverage and massive local interest in Philly, Jersey and Delaware regarding my "rummaging" through a well-known local TV newswoman's lingerie drawer while at a party and discussing it in frank manner on-air. I soon after sincerely apologized to her by phone and she was kind enough to accept. My loyalty to Kidd Chris and his show runs deep. In mid-2007 he recommended me for a spot on a nationally-aired stand-up comedy contest broadcast live on the popular "OPIE & ANTHONY SHOW" on XM Radio. First prize was a shot as opening act on the Philly stop of the hugely successful "Travelling Virus" comedy tour. I didnt win, but was able to shock the world by advancing to the final round and get interviewed live on-air by the great comedian JIM NORTON about our mutual affinity for shemales. That special day was rendered virtually moot shortly thereafter though, when the contest's winner-- my friend and fellow comedian ED McGONIGAL -- refused to accept the prize because it included no financial compensation. This necessitated another contest, and the second competition did not go as well for me. Held in a large theater in Philly in mid-September 2007, and also broadcast nationally, I had a terrible set and responded to a predictable chorus of booing from the audience by lashing back with an unpredictable, mostly F-bomb laced tirade while continuously sticking my middle fingers out at the crowd. Before leaving the stage I also got in a very minor and brief physical confrontation with O&A cast member CLUB SODA KENNY (the 6-foot, 9-inch former bodyguard of ANDREW "DICE" CLAY) which resulted in me being physically removed from the building by a Philly cop. Clearly I spazzed out that day but you know it felt good defending myself and in reality he grabbed after me first so fuck it . If you live in or near Philly, or are visiting this great city, the second Monday of every month THE TROC is on lock for a great mix of comedy, music, spoken word and erotic confessions. You also gotta check out the roving event "SOUR GRAPES" -- a bitterly hilarious open mic/rant fest which features regular citizens complaining about the depressing aspects of their personal, professional and sex lives. Speaking of my own sex life, like the great philosopher Eazy-E once said, "I love pussy and pussy loves me," but many also know me as the Cunnanan-esque renegade LGBT-loving ne'er-do-well of Philly-- just check Youtube for more info. I've written extensively for THE SOURCE, VIBE, PENTHOUSE and THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER among others. Back in the '90's I generated national acclaim as writer of "THE RAP BANDIT" columns for Vibe and The Source. Prior to that I rocked crazy local Philly props at WUSL-FM (Power 99) as morning show producer/on-air sidekick "PISTOL PETE." I fell off hard and deep circa 2002-- but within a year had begun diligently embarking on a career in stand-up. Calling what I've done in stand-up so far as a "career" is in itself laughable, so all I can do is keep working, keep writing and keep trying to make you laugh.
