You are listening to Joe Ruddick-Piano, David Hofstra-Bass, and Walter Perkins-Drums on RAZZBARI.....The Star Spangled Banner is played by Twos Sister Inc. Claire Daly and myself on baris and Dave Hofstra on Bass.
I was born in Oakland, California, in 1952. There was a half-size violin kept in the closet in case I wanted to be a concert violinist. I played trumpet at the age of nine, moving to baritone horn at the age of eleven, followed by a stint on drums until I settled on electric bass at thirteen, adding upright bass to the mix until the switch to saxophone at the age of twenty-one.
I have specialized in the baritone saxophone since the early seventies. I arrived in New York City in the summer of 1978, settled in the East Village, played in many bands in the area including the 25 O’Clock Band, Jemeel Moondoc’s Jus Grew Orchestra, Noise R Us, Mofungo, Freedomland and Fast 'n Bulbous.. I was a founding member of the Microscopic Septet. Lifetime member of William Parker's Little Huey Creative Music Orchestra. Musical Director of The Daves.
"At last a follow up to Janette Mason's sparkling debut as leader. Alien Left Hand ....was well worth the wait…” Production **** Performance**** -- BBC Music Magazine
“…an album fizzing with fresh ideas and delights, an exhilarating musical journey .. with brilliantly original writing and inspired playing…” -- Helen Mayhew
"Every track from the rhythmic ‘NY Cab Ride’ and restless ‘4 Wheel Drive’ to the brooding ‘Mae’s Song’ has a terrific hook but it’s the way Mason switches tempo and moods that makes ALH great fun. " -- Diva Magazine

It was a quote from Apocolypse Now. Dennis Hopper' character explains that you don't talk to the reclusive Brando character, you listen. It's a brilliant speach in the film. (He's a big man, I'm a little man Etc.) But I was relating it to you as a great Bari-saxman...you don't talk to Dave....you listen!!
Howdy-that new tune you put up is cool, I dig it! My elbow has healed up enough that I can finally start playing again, it's going to feel good to blow that bari!
