   About David Wilcox
For over fifteen years David Wilcox has been making music that bravely navigates a path through the emotional static of modern life towards a better place. With a style that The Boston Globe says "Combines the best of both pop and modern folk aesthetics," he writes songs that are wake up calls to the heart, balm for the soul.

"For me, it feels like when I look out at the world there's just a need for people to be talking about where they get their hope now," Wilcox says, "That's what my music has always been about. These days, there's so much adversity and loss of hope that anything you can offer that's on the positive side is a welcome relief."

David's own musical story began in college, when he took up the guitar after hearing a fellow student playing "Buckets Of Rain" by Bob Dylan. It was the first time he had ever experienced music as something that anyone can do. He picked up the guitair and began to experiment. Within a few months, he was writing his own songs. Drawing on influences from James Taylor to Motown to Joni Mitchell (she inspired him to explore alternate tunings), he created a sound that is both highly personal and emotionally forthright. "I'm drawn to artists who disclose something about themselves and let you in their world," Wilcox says.
From his debut in 1987 with The Nightshift Watchman through standouts such as How Did You Find me Here (1989), What You Whispered (2000) and Live Songs And Stories (2001), he has consistently delivered music that The New York Daily News credits with giving "Sensitive singer/ songwriters back their good name." For a complete discography, please see www.davidwilcox.com

Available for purchase online as of April 24, 2006 is David's new album, 'Vista'. Details on this disc including the full album's worth of music to sample can be found at 'www.davidwilcox.com

In 2005 David released, 'Out Beyond Ideas,' recorded with his wife, Nance Pettit. This disc is a benefit project comprised of music composed to modern translations of ancient mystic poetry spanning many of the worlds major faith traditions. Despite their differing faiths, the poets are speaking with one voice about the common quest for the divine. This album is in benefit of an amazing initiative called Partners in Conflict Partners in Peacebuilding which is doing tremendous work in mediating and ending seemingly intractable conflicts around the world. For more information, please visit www.outbeyondideas.org

Reflecting on nearly 20 years of record-making and touring, Wilcox says, "Music is still kind of like the headlights of the car into the night. It's way beyond where I am. I used to think I would catch up, but now I hope I don't. I hope the music stays my teacher. For me, I need to have stuff that is on the edge of what I'm learning - sort of my reasons to be, where I get my meaning. The discipline now is to have songs that have enough juice for me to sing them well, and yet to write them thoroughly enough that they become distilled and playful and simple, and not like I'm trying to be too heavy. I want the songs to have depth, but be strong enough on the surface that if you just want to skate across, it'll hold you. That's what I'm after."

David,

Thanks for a wonderful Songwriters' Workshop at Blue Rock last night! My writing partner and I enjoyed it so much! Thanks for answering our questions. I love your newest song about the cracking ice and the dynamite. Can't wait til you record that one --- or hear how it may evolve more. You were wonderful! Wishing you many blessings on your journey. I just have to say that the more I hear "Red Eye" the more I fall in love with
everything about it. Thank you for writing it and performing it so richly. It should be mandatory that
everybody buy your CD. Is that over the top? Cheers to you from a new fan.

It was my pleasure to add "Red Eye" to my radio playlist (playing independent music commercial-free 24x7) and introduced it on my weekly podcast. The direct link to the show is: http://indiemusicsampler.com/2009/10/02/ims-152/

Today I would like to let you know about two print magazines in Germany I'm writing for.

"Living Line Dance", reporting about line dance and country music, and "Folk Magazine", reporting about folk and country music. The magazines are high respected in Europe. They offer you a good chance to publicize yourself in Europe and Germany.

For more information, please contact me at MySpace or send email to Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de with the headline "Advertise at Living Line Dance and Folk Magazine".

Warm regards
