Born in Africa, DJ Awal came to France in the late Seventies. During the nineties, he ran reggae sound systems ( Mix Mondial - Paris..), played in festivals around Europe (Musique Métisse/France, Afrika festival/Germany...) and started to invest in a home studio.
In 1998 he launched Yeleena (a non profitable association) and joined a collective of artists named New Bled.
The collective work contributes to the emergence of a new sound based on urban musics of the western world and North African beats.
DJ Awal’s latest album ’Just One Night’, is a blend of house, techno, D&B, electronic beats, reggae sounds, african percussions and oriental dance !
