A band always runs the risk of being marginalized when its members refuse to conform to any given musical trends. However, it can also be said that these bands, who transcend present gimmicks and stay true to rock-and-roll, ensure the longevity and credibility of their music. Del Asher strive to be one of these bands.
Del Asher was born when singer/songwriter Julian Tomarin began brainstorming the first tracks for his own project. Unable to find a dedicated vocalist to play with him, the accomplished guitarist decided to step into the role of front man himself and soon found willing and able band mates in Matt Murphy (drums) and Chris Charkowy (guitar). The three original members began working on a unique melodic hard rock sound that combined soaring vocals and melodies with high-octane guitar riffs.
The band began making waves in their hometown of St. Catharines, regularly playing the annual Niagara Scene Fest and earning gigs throughout southern Ontario. They soon found a fan and friend in award winning producer Julius “Juice” Butty, renowned for his work with Alexisonfire, Protest the Hero, and City and Colour. After recording a 3 song demo with the Hamilton based producer, Del Asher earned a place in the acclaimed Taste of Chaos Tour which featured established metal and hardcore bands such as The Used and 30 Seconds to Mars. This growing attention led to the independent recording artists earning 27th place on London’s FM96 Top 96 songs of 2007, which led to increased airplay on other commercial stations throughout Ontario and Quebec, as well as earning a coveted spot on warped tour 08'.This spring, the band returned to the studio with Juice to record an EP that will be released later this year.With the release of this self-titled EP, Del Asher plans to tour heavily to build on their already loyal fan base and gain exposure throughout Canada and abroad.
