Formed in Galway on Ireland's stunning West Coast, Disconauts are DJ's Padraic O'Connor and Keith O'Hanlon. In 1998 they teamed up with drummer and percussionist Mark Logan and started to forge a serious reputation throughout Ireland's burgeoning clubland. Additional musicians came and went, including the gifted Miceal O'Connor on Guitar, trumpet virtuoso Danny Healy, together with the glorious vocal talent that is Aoife Carbin.

With an emphasis on live work, only one Disconauts release has seen the light of day - GPO records 1998. There is talk of more.

Since 2000, however, Disconauts have welcomed several new members - Mike Kearsey trombone, Steve Hamilton sax, and Ben Edwards trumpet. Although Disconaut mainstays, Mike and Ben's Atlantic Horns have been busy with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, and Basement Jaxx, so Disconauts have welcomed occasional guests such as trumpet stars Joe Auckland and Richard Sidwell.

The Disconauts formula is this: Keith and Padraic mix across as many as four decks with horns and percussion added live to the mix. Thus, Disconauts take superb house tunes, expertly mixed, and add dynamic new melodies, phrases, and rhythms. Disconauts never rehearse or pre programme what will be played in order to achieve true improvisation with combustible results.

Our greatest compliment is when punters / clubbers realise that they can't tell what is being played live and what they are hearing on record. This changes, however, when Keith and Padraic use sweetly timed drop-outs leaving the live playing to stand alone. Added to this is the expert musicianship of the players: taking in Steve, Mike, Ben and Mark getting lost in a spontaneous, sweet, and sometimes blistering solo that is something to behold.
