Dishoom! is now proudly the official Six Degrees Night in Toronto! Six Degrees is an eclectic, independent music label based in San Francisco (USA) that produces and markets genre-bending, accessible recordings that explore world music, ambient, folk, contemporary classical and intelligent pop music.
Dishoom! is what happens when DJ Abdul Smooth (Qasim Virjee) and Omnesia (Anuj Rastogi) sit down for some Japanese food and decide that the world needs something fresh. The Dishoom story is as follows:
Qasim Virjee spends his life galavanting all over the world, from Edmonton, to Calgary, to Nairobi, to Montreal, to New York and finally finds himself in Toronto. Anuj , a little more rooted in Canada, makes some noise in Edmonton in the early 2000's, then dissappears for a while in the crowds of Toronto. One day, the two bump into each other, and after some serious music conversations, decide that it's time to unleash some fresh sounds and create a scene that has not been seen in these parts for too long. One evening, over some udon noodles, and chicken katsu it hit them.....Dishoom! was born... Weeks later, Dishoom! was unleashed on the metropolis, and the audience responded. April 7, 2006 brought people of all colors together to hear hear a completely new sound. Dishoom! Live introduced Toronto to what happens when one composer/producer on tabla, keyboards, and a laptop, comes together with 3 vocalists singing in Hindi, English and Yugoslavian and an established rapper. The next level of Dishoom! was unleashed when DJ's Abdul Smooth and [ tbc ] spun some fresh DJ sets and sounds that had the crowd moving all night. Dishoom! is coming. Be aware.
As it's my 1st ever i am looking for just about everyone to take a listen in and give me feedback to see if i am on the rite track and if my style and genre appeals to most... Just droppin by to say thanks for the add, and to show some love from Scotland. All the best for future events.
