Formed in 2005 and based in Brooklyn, New York, Division of Planes seeks to balancethe directness of old school punk rock with the changes in form brought about by the so-called post-hardcore bands. With this simple approach the band achieves distinctive results.
Division of Planes recorded Trembling Wires in late 2006 with engineer Scott Norton (Parts and Labor, Early Man) at Headgear Recordings in Brooklyn and mastered by TJ Lipple (The Evens, Medications) at Silver Sonya in Arlington, VA. Released in 2007 Trembling Wires garnered praise for its urgency and complexity, and the band spent the second half of that year touring.
In 2008 the band was forced to opt out of a run of shows on the East Coast due to health reasons.
After a brief hiatus and finding a new drummer Division of Planes returned to Headgear Recording Studios to record Multiplayer Protocol with Scott. Multiplayer Protocol possess a greater attention to melody while maintaining the intensity of their previous release. The 5 song EP, also mastered by TJ, is available from their imprint Divided by Records in CD, 10" vinyl and download formats. Division of Planes will spend the rest of 2009 in support of their new record.
