Known for his epic 4-hour “Hip-Hop / Mash up / Strip rock” sets and blending different genres of music, COOLWHIP’s constant array of craftsmanship on the turntables is nothing short of genius.

An Optometrist by day and an A-list DJ by night, COOLWHIP is one of Hollywood’s most sought after DJs. A master manipulator of cutting-edge sound, his unique blend of Hip Hop, Electro, Mash up, Strip Rock, and Dance music has elevated him among the Hollywood elite. As a teen, COOLWHIP would regularly patron all the local record stores to find rare grooves that were different but yet lively. A top honor student and a shop sponsored skateboarder riding with many famous pro skaters at Venice High School he has always felt that music was his calling. With influences ranging from Mixmaster Mike, Q-Bert, Xecutioners, his brother DJ Hysum and skateboarders like Christian Hosoi and Chris Miller, as his record collection grew so did his overwhelming desire to play them in front of a crowd.

In 1991 with a record collection the size of a two car garage, COOLWHIP decided it was time to pursue music the way he had pursued education and skateboarding. At a Rave in Downtown Los Angeles that his brother was DJing, COOLWHIP grabbed a record, starting spinning, and has never looked back. Ironically, since his introduction to professional DJing, he has gone on to graduate from the University of California, Irvine with a BS in the Biological Sciences, California State University, Dominguez Hills with a masters and Southern California College of Optometry with a doctorate degree in Optometry.

Referred to as a Hollywood legend by his peers and a favorite among many club goers, COOLWHIP has a reputation as a DJ’s DJ. He has played alongside the world's finest DJ talents sharing the stage with David Guetta, Armin Van Buren, Armand Van Helden,Will.I Am, Mixmaster Mike,Tony Touch,Q-Bert,John Digweed, DJ Dan, Xecutioners (Roc Raida), Richard Vission,Grandmaster Flash, the Beat Junkies, Z-Trip, Mark Ronson and DJ AM. I have such a wide taste in music that I could not sometimes pinpoint one type of music that I favor over another. I do like anything that is funky with a taste of the rough, rugged and raw shit.
