Cubist (Eden Krumins) grew up in Strathmore, a northern suburb of Melbourne. He
started playing Cello at the age of ten and spent the majority of his teenage years skateboarding the streets of Melbourne listening to groups like N.W.A, Extra Prolific, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Iron Butterfly, Santana, The Beatles...etc.
Whilst at High School a friend came back from the UK with a CD called ‘Colour’s by Adam F. It was the first time he heard Drum ‘n’ Bass. It was amazing. Like everything he ever wanted from music. He started collecting vinyl and DJ’ing. After seeing Roni Size and DJ Die perform at ‘The Big Day Out’ in Melbourne and then Reprazent perform at ‘The Palace’ he fell in love with the funky style and sound of Full Cycle.
Fast forward a few years and whilst studying Music Performance (cello) at University he got a job working at HMV Records and began going to the weekly Scu Bar Sessions in Melbourne to watch and listen to the seamless sound of DJ Dopebeat with MC Wasp and Dr. Sponk.
In 2001 he started his weekly Drum ‘n’ Bass radio show ‘Cubical Views’ on Melbourne community station 3CR and a Monthly Drum ‘n' Bass night ‘Audible Level’ with long time friend DJ Fiascotec. From 2004-2006 Cubist ran the successful Local Lineup parties, dedicated to showcasing Melbourne Drum ‘n’ Bass producers. He currently runs ‘Wobble’ Melbourne’s Number One Monthly DnB, Dubstep and Jungle Sessions powered by Heartical Hi Fi Soundsystem. He presents ‘The Drum’n’Bass Sessions’ every Monday Night at 11pm on Kiss 87.6 FM.
In 2007 Cubist was fortunate enough to be selected to The Red Bull Music Academy in Toronto. He’s signed tune’s to Zombie Recordings, Advisory, 3rd Angle and Blueprint which get support from the Scene’s Heavy Hitters such as Andy C, Grooverider, Fabio, Hype, Crissy Criss plus many more.
cheers for accepting our request, its much appreciated indeed :-)
actually we re checkin ur uploads once again and we have to admit; its simply sounding brilliant in our ear's, ur stuff is pretty well produced and in such a wicked quality...we re simply impressed about ur skills...particularly *come upstairs* is a nice_1, diggin ur massive bassline there and ur beats re smooth and clean...like the groove there...also, "memory lapse" is a cool one, diggin ur beatwork there and the bassline is really sounding like the earlier stuff...keep it up mate, coz its more than worth it...
if u ever catch a little time, it would be nice to know what u reckon about our stuff...
cheers & have a pleasant weekend dA._bRo'Z from Switzerland
Hey, hope all is well! Stop by the page and check out the newest Mindstorm tunes "Midnight Rush" and "Gamer's Delight" recently added to the player when you get a chance.
"Midnight Rush" has a more Brookes Brothers/Futurebound vibe while "Gamer's Delight" is just full-blown dirty analog bliss. Leave some love if you like what you hear, it's always appreciated. Big up!
‘Coppers’ begins with a pulsating four to the floor build up overlaid with a menacing US gangster film sample. This gives way to a drop which would smash the door off any rave, anywhere. Grimey. ‘Metal Ringer’ is a slightly more experimental Jump Up beast. The steppy beat combines with a growling bassline which switches up through the track between a low down dirty rumble and high pitched synth wobbler. Music to bang walls to.
