On December the 8th 2008 Daniel John Martin played alongside Patrick Saussois (famous French guitar player) at the Quecumbar in London. Ducato Piotrowsky accompanied them on rhythm guitar and Andy Crowdy was on counter base. The result is on a beautiful C.D. (LE Q label) and it has received a lot of praise in France! Django Reinhardt was born on January the 23rd, 1910. This year 2010 will be the “Django year” in France! In due respect to this anniversary DJM will be recording live at the famous Duc Des Lombards jazz club in Paris during the « fête à Django » on the 19th of January.
In search of a concept DJM has come up with a four-piece band, playing only Django Reinhardt’s compositions, yet with no guitar player… The idea being to bring forward the very modern aspects of the genius by omitting the traditional gypsy guitar sections… He has named the project “Django vu du ciel” (Django as seen from the sky) and it includes the following musicians:
DJM violin, vocals. Olivier Hutmann, piano. Rémy Chaudagne, counter base and François Ricard, drums… The CD is due in March 2010.
URBAN GYPSY is a four-piece band playing mainly Gipsy standards. It is formed by DJM, Samy Daussat on guitar and Claudius Dupont on counter bass. Renowned musicians such as Angelo Debarre or Romane, depending on the concerts, join them...Check out the videos on this page!

Le 8 Décembre 2008, Daniel John Martin jouait aux cotés de Patrick Saussois au Quecumbar à Londres. Ils étaient accompagnés de Ducato Piotrowsky à la guitare rythmique et Andy Crowdy à la contrebasse. Ceci donnait lieu à une séance d’enregistrement live. Le résultat est un très beau CD paru sur le label “le Q records”. Il à été cite comme un des coups de Cœur des disques live de la radio T.S.F. jazz.
