back in 98 i started "dj'ing" with my dad's old belt-drive turntable and a mixer you could barely fit in the trunk of a car. in college i upgraded to a pair of 1200's and an 05 after uncle fester and i met fresh kils and i started to take making music more seriously. fes ended up getting ahold of an old sp808 and all of us started making beats together; backburner was born. in and around this time a friend of mine introduced me to ragga jungle with the leviticus tune "big, bad, and heavy". it was love at first listen and from then on i focused my dj'ing on jungle. i played around halifax for a few years until eventually i decided i was no longer satisfied playing other people's jungle and i started to make my own. in 2003, i decided to take it to the next level and took a recording arts program, which, unlike the philosophy courses of years previous, i passed with flying colours. i ended up with an internship doing live sound at halifax's most well known live venue the "marquee club", and am still doing live sound regularly as my "day job". in the studio ive focused my attention on producing, mixing, and mastering and have done work for alpha flight, thesis sahib, jesse dangerously, jon epworth, windom earle, and many others. thats basically me. peace.
