Sounds Like
music that isn’t a means of entertainment or consumption, but a language that allows one to say something, when there are no words left to speak or when the thing you wished to say has been banalized by words and has lost its initial meaning and sense..

Dream Mechanics isn’t exactly a band. It’s a project, it’s music and it’s poetry. The idea for the project was fostered by the Moscow radio DJ Ilya Richter (vocals, electronics). To help him gather scattered pieces of words and sounds and turn it into this music, he invited three of the most progressive musicians from the Russian electronic and indie-scene to join the project: Viktor Shapovalov (bass), Nick Zavriev (keys) and Sergey Ledovski (drums). Together they create a magical and secretive sound of what they have named post-psychedelic with elements of trip-hop, ambient, trance and post-rock.
According to listeners, the music brings one a sudden change in the state of mind without using any drugs.
In the course of its first six months of existance Dream Mechanics has performed at various festivals and prestigious clubs in Moscow, and has been featured in Afisha, the number one entertainment magazine in Russia, as one of the 14 most interesting Russian groups.
'A slow and very picturesque music in all its innate melancholy', Afisha wrote about the project.
now Dream Mechanics is exposing the Screensaver to the public eye.
Almost Tomorrow is the third full length collaboration album from Section 27 Netlabel founders Tam Ferrans and Andrew Paterson, under their Nonima & theAudiologist guise. This time around the sound is more melodic, and has a definite feeling of a complete and more mature sound than heard on the previous LP's "Dystopian Battle Hymns" and "Ceremony After Amputation". If you are familiar with their individual projects you may even be in for a slight surprise, as the tracks are not as beat driven like before, but are more atmospheric and sound, well... "bigger". In its 75 minutes, Almost Tomorrow takes you on a trip from the digital rain-soaked cavernous scraping in "Thoughtograph", the ethereal beat jittering of "The Colour of Rain", intercepted transmissions from unknown places in "Com-Intercept", "Ganzfeld"s huge yet strangely insect-like beats until everything you knew comes crashing around you in "Almost Tomorrow". Burning pianos, glitched out soundscapes and intricately programmed beatplay, this may well be their best work to date. Consider it the soundtrack to a rainy overcast day, but with just that glimmer of sunshine peeking from the clouds. "Almost Tomorrow" wears its heart on its sleeve.
Our new album "Herbarium" is
out now on CdBaby (MP3 so far, physical CD is on its way).
Diverse palette of styles (post-rock,
ambient, electronica, trip-hop, with elements of noise, dub,
neoclassic and free improvisation), united by cinematic, slightly
pensive mood.
«Herbarium» is called so
because of heterogeneity of «songs», which can be
compared to miscellaneous leaves in the album, still being belonged
to the family of trees. Trying to avoid non-alive metaphors here,
only thought of diversity and warm and innermost feeling that
herbarium is capable to conjure up. «... This leaf I picked up
in the park where I met her, and this - I sat by the river,
contemplating...». So tracks were created – one was captured
in some magic jam, another – recorded layer by layer and
meticulously mixed then, next – cut from previous sessions and so
on.
All compositions are united by Poostosh
sense of music – mostly pensive, spatial, tender and experimental.
There's a lot of soul and charisma in every leaf... So please let
your soul look over our HERBARIUM.
