Bio
Hood is on sabbatical throughout the remainder of the first decade of the 2000's but check out how the various members are filling their time in:- .. .. ....Bracken.... .. ....The Declining Winter.... .. ....Gareth S. Brown.... .. ....Maggie8.... .. .. Hood was formed in 1990 in Wetherby, West Yorkshire by brothers Christopher and Richard Adams. To this day they remain a prolific, enigmatic outfit with a revolving door membership and a sound that has taken in lo-fi, electronica, dub, hip hop, post rock and pop. They began with a bunch of noisy, scratchy 7” records before signing to Slumberland records of San Francisco. In the mid ‘90’s they produced two albums of lo-fi bliss pop - ‘Cabled Linear Traction’ and ‘Silent ’88 as well as singles compilation ‘Structured Disasters’. They then became one of the first UK signings to the British indie label Domino in 1997. Two albums followed ‘Rustic Houses, Forlorn Valleys’ and ‘The Cycle of Days and Seasons’. Both were gentle meditative affairs which aligned them with the first breed of post rock bands and earned them tours with Mogwai, Low, Do Make Say Think and appearances at the All Tomorrows Parties festivals. After a two year gap, Hood released their most well known album to date, ‘Cold House’ - an album that matched their guitar-based atmospherics with avant hip-hop courtesy of guest appearances from US rappers Dose One and Why? from the groundbreaking Anticon collective. The band then toured Europe and the USA before returning with ‘Outside Closer’ their most accomplished record to date. Produced by Choque Hosein of Black Star Liner the album mixes bright avant pop with longer more abstract pieces. The album was extremely well received and the band embarked on tours to USA, Japan, Western Europe and Russia. More information about the band as well as mp3s, videos and a discography can be found at their official website http://www.hoodmusic.net. .. .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .... .... .. .. .. .. .. .... -
