Keeping the flame of Avante Gaelic Obscurist Folk Rock alive in the Outer Hebrides. Two sets of brothers( jason and jon/robin and wattie) fused together by an irrate record company and not allowed out to play until they have played Madison Square Garden at least twice and sold more than 2 copies of Redun from Fonn.
Writing idiosyncratic songs about life in the Western Isles is all they do, spending long hours in candle-lit garrets and sipping from bottles of Absinthe whilst wearing fingerless gloves and muttering to themselves like some old geezer from a Dickens novel.
Written seven or eight albums worth of songs and amassed a small but fanatical fan base (which also has a branch on Norway!!!!!!!! thanks Irene) whislt trying to keep the wolf from the door.
If you want to know about Peatman, the illusive Funky Peatstack, Hump-backed lobsters and many characters of a Stornowegian slant, then this is the band for you.

And don't anyone be going to that fleekeen England place for your holidays. Nowadays you can have a very similar experience much closer to home at Centre Paircs - South Lochs' very own family leisure resort in Gravir. It's far cheaper to get there and it's just as full of Sasunnaich.
OK, they haven't got a big glass dome to keep the bad weather out, but everybody knows it neffer rains in G*d's Own Country anyway.
2) We've posted our own Neil Y**ng tribute over at the Guireans myspace page. It's the legendary "live" version of "You Wear Donny Murchaidhs" recorded at the Huggan house in 1986 or 7 and featuring Jimmy "I am just an elder and you are just an elder/Kyle is just a butcher and you're a welder" Kyle in his one and only Guireans appearance ever. On out of tune acoustic geetar, I think.
Fleekeen web disaster, Guireans fans. www.guireans.com will be offline for the rest of May.
This has come about because of the cheap rubbish (ie free) internet hosting package we've used, which cuts off access to the site if you exceed your monthly bandwidth limit.
The only way we could get back online within the month would be to pay money to the service providers, and the Plook Records marketing department budget for Q2 2009 (£0.00) does not include contingency for this event.
It's all because we tried to upload a bunch of bootleg mp3s from Roddy Huggan's recent rehearsals behind the undertaker's in Inversneckie. Won't be doing that again.
Co dhiu, normal service should be resumed at the end of the month.
Hope you are SURVIVING these crazy economic times! Enjoy our new video "Whiskey Tonight" and stop by our site for a FREE download of the new song. Yes, something for FREE. Cheers!
Happy New Year... Stop by for a FREE download of "Whiskey Tonight", our first release in 2009 from the band's upcoming 7th CD - "Whiskey Tonight". The new song hits home with the same good time impact expected of an Indulger's song, heralding a return to our "rockin' pub sound". * * Stop by for your FREE download of the new song and all the best to you in 2009!
