Youthful thirst for music can produce flashes of rock excitement, but genuine experience and the passage of time can turn a good band into a truly great one. Now, ten years on from when the four young men jumped onto the national stage, EBOLA are taking a big step towards Thai music scene with their fourth studio album, Enlighten.
Back to 1995, Wannit Puntarikapa (guitar) and Surapong Buapan (guitar) triggered off forming the hardcore band as they had dreamt of. Later on, Pongpan Pothinimit (drums) and Kittisak Buapan (vocal) had joined in. The band's line-up was complete when Chaowalit Prasongsin (bass) joined the band.
They spent the rest of the year performing under the name EBOLA as being the underground band. With their great live performances, they gained more and more popularity among the underground audiences. Apparently, in 1996, their reputation was much acclaimed in the world of Thai..s underground music.
In 1997, they decided to go into the studio, recorded their first EP entitled E.P. 97. The disc was available only for their concert..s audiences. Sparking with this EP, they focused their efforts to produce their debut album.
EBOLA released their first full-length album, In My Hate, in 1999 with critical acclaim from their fans. Later in 2001, they released their second album, Satisfy which caused the interest growing across Thailand with their unique style both for their music and lyric parts.
To keep their fans away from waiting too long, EBOLA released their first live album, Ebola Live under the distribution of Warner Music (Thailand) which helped spread their works wider. Continuously, they decided to release Live to Play VCD especially to help introducing them to broader range of audiences. This VCD contained their live performances and the interview clip which was gained interest not less than their studio albums.
Pole was their third studio album which exposed more of their sophisticate perspectives. This was apparently like the proclaimation of the band..s characteristic that they were not only good at rocking hard but the composing of meaningful lyrics. Many of songs in this album were used as the original soundtrack and the TV commercial spot..s song such as ..Kwan Pen Pai.. (the movie ..Ukabath..) and ..Get Out.. (the TV spot ..M-Max..)
With their accumulated reputation, EBOLA had the opportunities to perform as the opening act for Linking Park and Slipknot during their 2004 tours in Thailand.
EBOLA had come a long way to their tenth year in 2005. After they had grown for so long, all of their valuable experiences were transformed to their latest studio album, Enlighten which marked a significant growth in the band as musicians. The album was accompanied by the strong Mango Team, and featured guest guitarists, Olarn Promjai, who is a renowned musician in Thai rock music scene.
Enlighten is undoubtedly EBOLA..s best album ever. It was also regarded as one of the best albums in Thailand in 2005. It won the Best Producer at the 2005 Seed Awards, and also earned the Best Rock Album from Hamburger magazine.

Keep Deftones bassist Chi Cheng in your thoughts. The 38 year-old is in a coma in a San Jose hospital following a car accident on Tuesday. The band's myspace blog reports Cheng is in "serious but stable condition."
