I love movies, but the list I had was wiped out when my page got hacked, and I'm just too lazy to type them in again. In short, my favorite movies are Brazil and Blade Runner. My favorite director is Stanley Kubrick. My favorite writer is Charlie Kaufman. My favorite actresses are Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett. My favorite actors are Robert Mitchum, George Clooney and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
My favorite films of 2007 were There Will Be Blood, Across the Universe, The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, and Black Snake Moan, however 2007 was an incredible year for films and there are dozens of others I loved.
THERE WILL BE BLOOD - BEST FILM OF 2007, BEST FILM OF THE DECADE, AND ONE OF THE BEST FILMS EVER...AN INSTANT AMERICAN CLASSIC!
FAVORITE FILMS OF 2008 ARE TARSEM'S THE FALL (I've seen it 9 times in the theater and could never get tired of watching it over and over again) and MILK.
Favorite films of 2009 so far are Away We Go, Inglorious Basterds, The Hurt Locker, Moon and District 9. There are many more to come. Can't wait for Where The Wild Things Are!
Television
Twin Peaks, Olberman, Maddow, Stewart
Books
Stephen King's The Stand is my favorite book.
Heroes
Not "heroes" as such, but I so admire them: Barack and Michelle Obama. Happy Rhodes.
I live in Chicago, have a cat Jork, and that's the love of my life Chris there with me in the avatar photo. That was taken on an Amtrak when we were on our way back to Chicago from a Happy Rhodes concert in Philly in January 2005. Music (especially
Happy Rhodes and Kate Bush) and movies are my passions.
Kate Bush is my main musical goddess, but Happy Rhodes is near and dear to my heart because she's my lyrical soul mate and
because she's a friend. I first became a fan in 1988 when I heard a tape of a tape from a friend of a friend, and played her on my radio show. I tracked her down (it's not as creepy as it sounds) and "met" her via telephone, then I interviewed her by telephone for the show. The rest, as they say, or someone says anyway, is history. I've been a loudmouth ever since. I started Happy's MySpace page and that's where I spend most of my time, logged into "her" account. I guess I'm one of "those" fans who have a single-minded obsession. If I were any good at it (being an uber-fan) she'd be famous now, so I've not been that useful. But I do what I can.
I keep a Happy Rhodes song samples/rarities page at http://wretchawry.com, and I do a (currently
in limbo) podcast featuring female vocals called Suspended In Gaffa based on the radio show I used to have years ago.
This is me with Happy after a house concert in Kenosha, WI, Nov. 2003, about a half-second before I burst out laughing. We were standing side by side and all of a sudden she just threw her arms round me. She's so wonderful.
Happy singing LIVE! This was being recorded at the same time it was filmed. This is the acoustic version of "Temporary and Eternal" that ended up on her album The Keep. Happy's never made any videos of her songs, so this is the closest we'll ever get. It was never released to the public so few fans have ever seen it until now. That's Carl Adami on bass and Kevin Bartlett on electric guitar. This was recorded in 1995. (this is a better-quality version that was was put up by k8fan, my husband)
Which Kate Bush album are you?
You're not dreaming, you are The Dreaming! People may not understand you right away, or at all. But those who choose to follow your path anyway, may be some of your most loyal friends yet. Maybe your tastes are a little eccentric and outdated, but that just makes you even more beloved. Now if you'd just come out and see the world once in awhile... Take this quiz!
I'm The Dreaming! That's great because that album is my all-time favorite album, by anybody!
Who I'd like to meet:
People who recognize Happy's brilliance.
PLEASE NOTE: I've turned my Friends Request back on, but if I don't know you, I'll give you a couple of days to SEND ME A MESSAGE telling me why in the world you want to be Friends with me (you're an old or new Happy fan, you know me from the Kate forum, something like that) and if I don't hear from you, I'll delete the add request. Relatives are excluded, of course you can send an add request.

Hiya Vickie. Thank you so much for your lovely comments - I can't ever thank you enough for getting me interested in Happy's music all those years ago. And now that I've found you again you've got me hooked on Emily Maguire and, indirectly, Cara Winter both of whom I hope to see live in the next month or so. Respect to you and Chris - you guys really rock!
