Eric David's Interests
General
My family, laughing, beauty, love, real friends, myspace friends, movies, film, cinema, screenwriting, photography, drama, theater, music, karaoke, reading, writing, poetry, novels, Shakespeare, nonfiction, travel, nature, language, philology, internet, web 2.0, MySpace, popular culture, philosophy, postmodernism, spirituality, intelligent conversation, silliness, biking, hiking, walking, cooking (I make a mean Penne all' Arrabbiata), fine dining, Los Angeles, health care, pediatric brain tumors and chemotherapy (see About Me)
Music
My great love. I have ~1,500 CDs. And I like it LOUD (and I like to sing along in the car and shower).
Currently listening to: Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, The Who, Beatles, Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews Band, Once soundtrack, Beatles, Robbie Williams, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Radiohead, Elvis Costello, Beatles, Smashing Pumpkins, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Beatles, Creed, Rilo Kiley, Pistol Opera .... Did I mention The Beatles? :)
Also: They Might Be Giants (with Jana), Wicked soundtrack (with Chandler), the Scooby Doo theme songs (with Dylan).
Movies
I moved to L.A. for film school, so need I say more about my cinephilia?
Otherwise, the usual suspects: Jesus, David, Abraham, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Dorothy Day, J.R.R. Tolkien, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Jim Henson, Bono.
My son, Dylan, has been in and out of the hospital since late July 2007 after having a malignant brain tumor removed. He completed his final round of chemotherapy in February 2008 and is back home to stay, though he has a long way to go with other complications.
I normally spend my time helping this little site you're on streamline their advertising management systems (and no, I can't help you get your band signed, or meet hot babes, or Tom, or Rupert, for that matter). I'm also working on projects related to the other internet media properties owned by Fox (IGN, Rotten Tomatoes, Ask Men, American Idol, Fox.com, etc.). I am among the oldest employees, though I fool everyone with my boyish looks and childish attitude.
I also run a boutique web development and search engine optimization firm. I also do some writing, editing and other odds and ends. When I'm not doing those things, I'm hanging with my two boys and their hot mom.
More personal? I have a large appetite for many aesthetic pleasures, but mostly good food. The perfect meal? A nice 3-hour mange on a Saturday afternoon at Pizzicotto in Brentwood. Plan B: peanut butter (Laura Scudder's smooth) & jelly (strawberry, no sugar added) sandwich (on Iron Kids crustless bread) with an ice-cold Diet Dr. Pepper to wash it down.
Your style's goofy, innocent and feel-good. Perfect for parties and for the dads who chaperone them. You can actually get away with corny jokes, and I bet your sense of humor is a guilty pleasure for your friends. People of your type are often the most approachable and popular people in their circle. Your simple & silly good-naturedness is immediately recognizable, and it sets you apart in this sarcastic world.
PEOPLE LIKE YOU: Will Ferrell - Will Smith
Favorite places: Dutton's bookstore (R.I.P.), Martha's Vineyard, Florence, Sacre Coeur, Van Gogh Museum, Bruges, Chamonix, Venice, Turtle Bay, Pompeii, Delphi, London (sometimes), Hollywood (turn left at Albuquerque).
Even more personal? I am a wicked-good cook, but am trying to diet; an excellent masseur, but have carpal tunnel syndrome; a phat dancer, but I sweat like a horse; a lover to rival Casanova, but I have a bad back, and man, I'm just too darn tired. :)
Who I'd like to meet: My birth mother (if she is alive; I was adopted at one month of age).
My birth father, too, but he is most likely in Europe somewhere. My birth mother was an American who went abroad to Italy and came back pregnant. Ciao!
