Now I'm gonna ask you a bunch of
quick questions I've come up with
that more of less tell me what kind
of person I'm having dinner with.
My theory is that when it comes to
important subjects, there's only
two ways a person can answer. For
instance, there's two kinds of
people in this world, Elvis people
and Beatles people. Now Beatles
people can like Elvis. And Elvis
people can like the Beatles. But
nobody likes them both equally.
Somewhere you have to make a
choice. And that choice tells me
who you are.

TAKE THE POLL!

MoviesI moved to L.A. for film school, so need I say more about my cinephilia?

The imdb top 250 and the NYT top 1000 are pretty good indicators of my taste in movies.

Want more? Click here for my personal imdb ratings (takes a moment to render).

Also, here's my Netflix queue.

I made a short film (4 min.) titled The Gulf at USC film school. You can view it here on MySpace.

I also love to share my son Chandler's performance in a version of High School Musical on YouTube.

Lastly, Seinfeld's fictional films are among my favorites of all time, from Milan to Minsk!

TelevisionNot much time for this, alas.

Faves from the past:
The five S'es:
Sopranos (RIP), Seinfeld, Saturday Night Live, Star Trek, Sesame Street

That imdb link above in Movies also has my ratings of many TV shows.
BooksVoracious reader. I own ~3,000 books.

Dutton's Brentwood is (and soon I'll have to say "was") my favorite book store. Very sad. Here's an article from the NY Times about it:

A Loss in Los Angeles

By REBECCA CATHCART
Published: February 27, 2008
An independent Los Angeles bookstore with a national following and local client base of writers and movie stars will close on April 30 after 23 years as a neighborhood meeting spot for dog walkers and a refuge for readers. Dutton’s Brentwood Books, in the Brentwood neighborhood, is known for its thorough stock of classic, new and esoteric literature and a staff of bibliophiles far more familiar with their wares than most employees at corporate chains. More than $500,000 of debt and competition from chain stores and online vendors led Doug Dutton, the owner, to announce his plans to close in a statement on the store’s Web site (duttonsbrentwood.com) on Tuesday. The property owners, Nancy and Charles T. Munger, said in a statement to The Los Angeles Times that they would allow Dutton’s to remain open rent-free through its liquidation.

About me:

My son, Dylan, has been in and out of the hospital since late July 2007 after having a malignant brain tumor removed. He completed his final round of chemotherapy in February 2008 and is back home to stay, though he has a long way to go with other complications.

I'm posting updates on my blog
.

I normally spend my time helping this little site you're on streamline their advertising management systems (and no, I can't help you get your band signed, or meet hot babes, or Tom, or Rupert, for that matter). I'm also working on projects related to the other internet media properties owned by Fox (IGN, Rotten Tomatoes, Ask Men, American Idol, Fox.com, etc.). I am among the oldest employees, though I fool everyone with my boyish looks and childish attitude.

View Eric David's LinkedIn profile

I also run a boutique web development and search engine optimization firm. I also do some writing, editing and other odds and ends. When I'm not doing those things, I'm hanging with my two boys and their hot mom.

More personal? I have a large appetite for many aesthetic pleasures, but mostly good food. The perfect meal? A nice 3-hour mange on a Saturday afternoon at Pizzicotto in Brentwood. Plan B: peanut butter (Laura Scudder's smooth) & jelly (strawberry, no sugar added) sandwich (on Iron Kids crustless bread) with an ice-cold Diet Dr. Pepper to wash it down.

My score on... The 3 Variable Funny Test:

the Ham
((38% dark, 46% spontaneous, 36% vulgar))

your humor style: CLEAN | SPONTANEOUS | LIGHT

Your style's goofy, innocent and feel-good. Perfect for parties and for the dads who chaperone them. You can actually get away with corny jokes, and I bet your sense of humor is a guilty pleasure for your friends. People of your type are often the most approachable and popular people in their circle. Your simple & silly good-naturedness is immediately recognizable, and it sets you apart in this sarcastic world.

PEOPLE LIKE YOU: Will Ferrell - Will Smith

Favorite places: Dutton's bookstore (R.I.P.), Martha's Vineyard, Florence, Sacre Coeur, Van Gogh Museum, Bruges, Chamonix, Venice, Turtle Bay, Pompeii, Delphi, London (sometimes), Hollywood (turn left at Albuquerque).

..

Even more personal? I am a wicked-good cook, but am trying to diet; an excellent masseur, but have carpal tunnel syndrome; a phat dancer, but I sweat like a horse; a lover to rival Casanova, but I have a bad back, and man, I'm just too darn tired. :)

CURRENT MOON

Yet more on my website: Eric David Online.

Who I'd like to meet:
My birth mother (if she is alive; I was adopted at one month of age).

My birth father, too, but he is most likely in Europe somewhere. My birth mother was an American who went abroad to Italy and came back pregnant. Ciao!
