You should create your own MySpace Layouts like me by using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM's MySpace Profile Editor!

Yes people! For those that don't know I'm Evil Ed, I make beats/produce tracks and DJ, I've made records with some of the UK's most talented emcees including Jehst, Task Force, Yungun, Tommy Evans, Conspicuous & The Colony, Microdisiacs, Jnr. Disprol, Aspects, Ricochet, Kyza, Doc Brown, Broke N English, Seanie T, Apollo, Dubbledge, A-Love from Oz and one of the UK's finest soul singers Shaun Escoffery (check the blog above for full discography). Here's a biog with some video links to a handful of my tracks...

"Winning aclaim from music fans and critics alike for his LP "The Enthusiast" in 2004, Ed's debut got LP of the issue in DJ magazine and airplay of the lead single "Nico Suave" featuring Yungun by Zane Lowe on Radio One.

Here's the video for "Nico Suave"

"Ed became interested in being a Hip Hop/scratch DJ in 1984 and started making Hip Hop tracks in 1985. Perfecting his art over the next 10 years Ed finally got to release his production on wax on the "Blunted Buskers" EP in 1994 as one half of the crew Hidden Identity.

After a chance meeting with Jehst in a Huddersfield record shop in 1998, Ed contributed beats for Jehst's debut EP "Premonitions" and the early releases on the YNR label, including his own solo EP "The Tournament" which featured Task Force as well Jehst on the classic 'Alien'. The track "Ophelia" by Tommy Evans, produced by Ed & Jehst in 2000 was featured in the hit TV series 'Skins' in 2007.

Here's a tune featuring Jehst, from Nmonic's 'Voicemail' EP, the second release on YNR..."

"Ed went on to build his skills and produce and remix for other artists, including a remix for Quantic on the Tru Thoughts label. Ed started his own HID productions label in 2002 releasing his own "Tournament 2 EP" and more recently two 7" singles by Conspicuous feat. Shameless and 12 Inch Matter that both got Hip Hop single of the month in DJ mag."

Here's an unofficial video for the "Seein' Red' remix feat. Jehst, Farma G, Skriblah and Supa-T (Sundragon)

"Ed recorded his debut LP "The Enthusiast" for Janomi Records, home at the time to Yungun, Mr Thing & Doc Brown, all who feature on the LP. The LP also featured UK rap legends The Microdisiacs (now Broke N English), Kyza, Ricochet and The Colony."

"Evil Ed has also been collecting vinyl since '84 and is still a fan of Hip Hop on wax. He's done DJ sets supporting Hip Hop legends like Pete Rock, Melle Mel, DJ Cash Money, The Heiroglyphics and Prince Paul. Check out the two 'live' mix CD's by Evil Ed & K-Delight - "Live At Caesars Palace" and "Live From Outerspace. You can also catch Evil Ed doing shows with the Ottomanelf label family (Colony, DJ Excalibah, Cobane, TB & Conspicuous)..."

Here's the video for "Focussed" by Evil Ed and Conspicuous feat. Shaun Escoffery on the hook (sadly Shaun isn't in the video, but there's cameo appearences from Jehst, Doc Brown & The Colony fam with Cons thrashing everyone at backgammon!)...

What the press said about EVIL ED's "THE ENTHUSIAST" LP...

Photobucket

"In Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid someone says: "What you want and what you get ain't the same thing." We wanted to slate another boring British rap album, but got a rarity: a meaty, funky UK Hip Hop record wearing party beats on it's sleeve."

Vice magazine

"UK Hip Hop is just beginning to enter it's own golden age, and only recently have we really had Hip Hop we can be proud of in this country...'The Enthusiast' drops the British reserve...and really gives us something to shout about...we've never had a producer with the gauranteed Midas touch of a Dr Dre or Premier...the potential is plain to hear in his taut and tightly focused beats...'The Enthusiast' is a crowning achievement from Britain's best beatsmith. God save the king, long may he reign over us."

DJ magazine

"Daring samples, flowing rhymes and hilarious lyrics...The Enthusiast is a one-stop UK hip-hop hit shop.

Zoo magazine

"...virtually a Who's Who of British underground hip-hop...the talent level is high..."

The Guardian

"Ed's sampled beats strike a perfect balance between brutal minimalism with delicious floridity."

Rip and Burn magazine

"...makes for a compelling listen from start to finish."

Between Planets

"...quality control is the order of the day here...on The Enthusiast he truly draws (and crosses) the line between beat makers who can simply create a head-nodding loop and producers who can truly orchestrate a full bodied track...Evil Ed finds himself following in the footsteps of heroes such as Marley Marl and Pete Rock, proving himself to be a gifted producer capable of working with a diverse array of lyricists, yet managing to maintain his own trademark style at all times."

Undercover mag

"A treat for anyone missing the old way of making hip hop..."

Q magazine

"...the contrasting sounds of Jehst, Yungun, Ricochet, Kyza, Tommy Evans, Asaviour, Lost Souls, The Colony, Microdisiacs, Eddie Skratch, Mic Assassin, Doc Brown and Mr Thing here blend just lovely...And as Ed's fine and dedicated handiwork proves, sometimes a little bit of unabashed enthusiasm really is the mother of invention."
