"Extra ... is undoubtedly the sum of many musical influences (Brian Wilson, Bowie, Pink Floyd to name but a few), but Mills obviously possesses enough musical nous to produce an album that avoids the derivative label. It's a world where sweeping rock chords meet outlandish orchestral pop all wrapped up in one gorgeous harmony after the next. While there's a serious amount of complexity at play, you'll find no need for repeat listens to get into this one."
- Jen Paterson, Oyster Magazine
"An epic new album"
- Glyn Bowerman, Two-Way Monologues
"Some concise sparkling pop tunes, some self-indulgence and some cream-on-the-frosting-on-the-marzipan-on-the-cake over-confectioned baroque pop and occasionally, everything at once."
- David Cowling, AmericanaUK
"Perhaps Mills should have made two or three EPs rather than cramming all of his interests onto one disc."
- Josh Spilker, Wonkavision Magazine
"[Extra's] preferred song structure is the suite — instead of cycling comfortably from verse to chorus to verse, Extra's pieces flame out a section at a time, like a spaceship uncoupling. F R Double E is a weirdly gorgeous world all its own, a dreamlike terrain of twisty hooks, stacked harmonies, spiraling guitar solos and otherworldly piano that is at once expansive and intimate. "
- Simon Glickman, Editorial Emergency
"Killer songs and playing throughout."
- Marc Weinstein, Music We Like (Amoeba Records instore magazine)

Well Jim, I got your outrageous gift....your regards from me should be coming in the snail mail soon..Let me know if it is enough AND confirm delivery if you can....this should keep this distant heart pretty busy for now... Just a not to what I am doing this weekend...400 pounds of fun(one saturday and one sunday)..from a helicopter this year...what else are we to do in the country? watch things get blown to smithereens and wipe our heads and cold noses from the chill.... Thanks much.. Will! Pumpkin Drop
Walter Y and I had lunch yesterday (Junior's). It was fairly productive, but equally frustrating He agreed that issuing the album on cassette was probably a necessity for the urban market. BUT since the playing time is only a few seconds, he refused to spring for Cr02... I know you're going to hate this. My hands are tied on this one.
I'm starting to think the scene at CBS is looking dim: After the waitress brought over dessert (blackberry Rugelach) Walter gets a text from Keith Sweat. (Something about free goods...? I couldn't quite make it out.) Anyway the guy leaves me with the bill and NO check!
Hi there. I'm loving the reflective, vulnerable sound of 'President' and 'Emitex' is right up my street for obvious reasons. Looking forward to more new sounds. Keep on!
Then make that imp-wards peripatetic journey to Pasadena this Saturday and watch us confuse a bunch of drunkards with strange sounds and words.
That's right! This Saturday Antique Imp we'll be playing at the Old Town Pub in Pasadena. We go on at 11:30 and will be playing deep into the darkest nether regions of the night, aka for as long as we feel like.
This show marks our 1-year anniversary as a band (20 shows in one year--weee!), so it's sure to be a special night for us. Come on by and take part in the love.
Tix are $8 at the door, though if you plan on attending, send us a message and we'll do our damndest to get you on the guest list. Empty slots are running thin quickly though, so best to RSVP as soon as possible.
The Old Town Pub is located at 66 N. Fair Oaks Ave, Pasadena CA 91103, blocks away from where the 710 and the 134 meet.
Unfortunately we don't have a flier to give you at this time, so here's a picture of Dick Cheney as a baby. As you can tell, he was a huge fan of Antique Imp from even a young age.
Friday, July 31st. 9:00 PM at VERSAI (18 and over!!!) 351 N. FAIRFAX AVE., Los Angeles, California 90036 (please click on our profile for details)
