fabulous bird is guided by the spirit of Hermon di Giovanno, Peter's uncle. Inspired by Hermon's wisdom and creativity, Peter chose to take the road less traveled, ditch his career in film making, and do what he loves to do most, entertain.
HERE"S WHAT OPTICAL ATLAS HAD TO SAY:
I’ve written about Fabulous Bird here before; Peter Alvanos’ project caught our attention when he played with the R.E.M.-covering, E6 supergroup The Observatory and began to record with Bill Doss. Now Doss has joined his lineup, and his latest record is almost complete. Alvanos has a dare with Flagpole that he can play 200 shows in Athens this year. He seems to be holding up his end by playing shows at Mama’s Boy every Wednesday morning at 7:30 AM. (What better way to cope with that hangover and the ringing in your ears?) Here’s a recent live performance at the Morton Theatre from August 14, where Peter is joined onstage with Doss, Ryan and Matt Lewis, and Charlie Estes (Dark Meat). Also listen to “O’Kate” on the band’s MySpace page…good song
And, this is not music. ...so this is music.
It is not feelings either.
It is silence dedicated by the person who loves all stories.
Love for You to listen to the one that it is not likely to listen.
if you...

Well, we don't know anyone of that name, but this is the South. Chances are we're related. Heck, in our four member band, it turns out three of us are blood siblings. Lily
ditto peter. thanks for submitting a healthy dose of rock behind the kit last night. you guys were great. i'm diggin' the stuff on here. that o'kate is a catchy number. stay in touch.
Hi Peter, Man, the R.E.M. Headquarters video is awesome!! Great camera angles!! I see the comment from Butch Young. Not Butch Walker. Different person than who I thought you were talking about. I added him a few days ago and thought you'd like him. Word. Wake up, time to make a movie!!!
Really digging "O'Kate" in particular -- a perfect cross between Elliott Smith and Dwight Twilley. It's super-tasty and that lo-fi electric guitar tone rocks!
Thanks for the photo comment about my art!! Cat told me about a year ago that my stuff made her think of Peter Max. I had not seen his works before I had created that piece. He is very gifted and I so appreciate the comparisons. If I ever can motivate myself to make more stuff I promise you are on my list of people to get free art. :D
Peter, for your birthday I'd like to give you this list I made in about 4 minutes. I hope you like it.

CAT PUNCHER & THE MAYOR AFTERPARTY SET (DANCE COMPETITION)
Are you related to the Elephant Six Orchestra? Your sounds send my mind to different galaxies, especially when I'm on acid. Everything about you is so psychedelic. I mean, it's just so cosmically beautiful. You're the soundscape to my perpetual dream. Do you think the Bill Doss would meet me for lunch and some mushroom tea? I fuckin' love you but I gotta go take another mind bending trip.
The eggs are cold and coffee tastes stale on Wednesday mornings here in NYC. Not just because the city cannot offer the hearty breakfast of the south, but mostly because without Peter and his guitar, the Wednesday morning silence washes over everything like death. *sigh* I miss those good ol' Mama's Boy times! Never stop sharing your awesome talent, Peter!
