About me:
FRUITS de MER RECORDS - POSSIBLY THE WORLD'S SMALLEST COLOUR VINYL PSYCH, ACID-FOLK, PROG AND KRAUTROCK RECORD LABEL (THAT WE CAN THINK OF)
...welcome back my friends to fdm2, Fruits de Mer Records' alter ego on myspace; and we're kicking off with news of new releases from FdM you can't afford to live without...
NEW RELEASE...!
...CRANIUM PIE deliver a Hammond organ-drenched, Canterbury-tinged, Ugly Custardly, progged-out and wonderfully inspired cover of The Beatles' 'Baby You're a Rich Man', plus a truly mind-bending version of that sixties psych classic 'Madman Running Through the Fields'....$8 inc. P&P - mark our words, Cranium Pie are destined for big things - remember where you heard 'em first!
FREE A3 POSTER WITH ALL EARLY ORDERS!
VIBRAVOID's 'KRAUTROCK SENSATION' ep........
Described by Record Collector mag as "a hairy bunch of psychedelic motherf*ckers from Dusseldorf", Vibravoid unleash four krautastic tracks including 'Mother Sky' (Can), 'Ruckzuck' (Kraftwerk) and 'Eye Shaking King' (Amon Duul II), plus a track originally by a German band back in '68 that's so obscure even Google can't place it - samples are playing here right now, assuming you have a soundcard. 7" of swirly blue vinyl with your name on it (actually, it has Vibravoid's name on it); just $8 a time - don't hang about - it made No.4 in the Norman Records charts and it's currently No.6 at Piccadilly Records. Kraftwerk have rush-released eight of their albums to benefit from the massive amount of publicity our single is creating (we might have made this bit up)

MYSPACE HAVE BANNED THE COVER - SO YOU'LL HAVE TO GO TO WWW.FRUITSDEMERRECORDS.COM TO SEE IT AND BE CORRUPTED
CHRISTMAS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER...
...early news of our first-ever Christmas single(!), no, it's not by Slade, instead it's a stunning three-tracker from Swedish duo Us & Them, featuring blissful, wistful, delicate covers of tracks by Tudor Lodge, Jackson C Frank and a unique interpretation of PINK FLOYD's 'JULIA DREAM' that combines the track with the nursery rhyme 'All the Pretty Little Horses' that the melody was based on - you have to hear it! Sendl us a message here on myspace to reserve your copy - a 7" white vinyl single in an 8" 8-page booklet (no, we're not sure why either, we clearly need to buy a tape measure one day)..
OUR SUMMER RELEASES...
The Flaming Gnomes unleashed quite possibly 2009's only popsike concept single, featuring The Zombies' 'Care of Cell 44', Caravan's 'Love Song with Flute' and the entwined ramblings of a certified eccentric from the seventies called Maurice; a total of 10 minutes of blissful UK sixties sounds revisited ...'Go to Our Webshop' and we'll be only too happy to exchange 8 of your Earth dollars for a brand spanking new piece of psuitably psychedelic purple vinyl; if PayPal doesn't appeal, send us a message and we'll sort out a cheque or cash deal)
We also persuaded Mark Fry, who recorded one of the rarest 70's albums EVER, the acid folk classic 'Dreaming with Alice' - to put together an exclusive single for us that combines a live version of 'The Witch' with a superb new recording of the title track from 'Dreaming', produced and mixed by Nick Franglen, no less...the first time that 'Dreaming with Alice' has been released in a complete, uninterrupted form.
We've been waiting since 1972 for this and it's brilliant stuff - 'Alice' retains the spirit of the original recording but with wonderful production and instrumentation;'The Witch' was recorded live in Chicago in 2008 with the help of a few friends in bands such as Califone, Hands of Hydra and The Singleman Affair.
Get your order in sharpish - just $8 a copy - there's only around 25 of our very limited pressing left, and they are in a rather fetching shade of blue (unlike the purple version shown here - but we've sold all of those and we're down to a final, reserve supply)
(by the way, if PayPal isn't your thing, just send us a message and we'll be happy to take hard cash or a cheque)
NOT TO BE MISSED FROM 2008...
...two great singles from us that came out last year..the first features lead singer from THE 70's cult acid-folk-rock band 'Mellow Candle', Alison O'Donnell, who couples Nick Drake's "Day is Done" with "Frozen Warnings" by The Velvet Underground's Nico. Alison has put both tracks together with the help of Graeme Lockett, aka 'Head South by Weaving'.
Alison autographed 300 promo photos which we've slipped inside each copy (that's one in each copy, not 300) - just hit the 'Go to Our Shop' button, say goodbye to $8 and say hello to Alison's new single...
...and on the other deck...
...our first ep, by the brilliant Spanish neo-psych band, 'STAY'.
Three absolute classics, originally written by The Rolling Stones ('2,000 Light Years From Home'), Graham Nash ('Chicago') and Strawberry Alarm Clock ('Rainy Day, Mushroom Pillow') respectively, make this another unmissable FdM release...
STOP PRESS (or something)...we're down to our own copies! If you'd still like one, it will have to be as part of an order for a COMPLETE SET OF FRUITS DE MER SINGLES - email us at fruitsdemer7@hotmail.com for more details
FROM THE FRUITS de MER ARCHIVES...OUR FIRST RELEASE AND AND WE'RE DOWN TO LESS THAN 50 COPIES...
Schizo Fun Addict play havoc with 'Theme One' (originally by George Martin/Van der Graaf Generator) and put lyrics to the title track from The Small Faces' 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake'. We think it's even tastier than dandelion abd burdock flavoured fizzy pop; it's only $8 including P&P, that's about 7/6 in old English money and getting less by the day as Gordon Brown, Alistair Darling and the international money markets weave their magic.
Record Collector loved it, Small Faces experts John Hellier and Mick Taylor gave it their seal of approval and Uncut, Mojo and Classic Rock ignored it completely!
Here's the 'Record Collector' review in all its fuzzy glory...

fdmer2 is the older, slower and overenthusiastic brother of Fruits de Mer Records(www.myspace.com/fdmer).
Fruits de Mer's mission in life is to unearth stunning tracks from the 60's and early 70's and get equally stunning artists to reinterpret them; fdmer2's more modest ambition is to help spread the word, play a few songs and videos along the way and, it's a fair cop, do everything I can to persuade you to hang around here long enough to become a convert to the FdM philosophy: tune in, turn on, cough up.

Visit www.myspace.com/fdmer to find out more about the label and pass the time of day with Andy, my young, gifted and bracken partner in this foolish venture...
Go to our webshop - www.fruitsdemerrecords.com - and spend, spend, spend
...or put your life briefly on pause, sit back and watch the Fruits de Mer videos scattered around the site; or visit the blogs and contribute some of your musical knowledge, personal opinions, archive material and vitriol...
...make friends and influence people in the creatively-titled 'friends' section and, as you reluctantly make your excuses and leave, please bear in mind that web 2.0 is all about behavioural targetting (or so I read in my copy of 'Ventriloquism for Dummies'), so give us a kindly mention the next time you find a like-minded soul, quite clearly we need all the help we can get....oh, and have a quick look at MUSIK PSYCHEDELIA www.myspace.com/fruitsdemer - my 'b-side' - if you like fdmer2, you'll only be mildly disappointed by it.
Ogden's gone now...but we'll back before you can say, "good riddance"; or in the words of Schizo Fun Addict....
BE BRAVE...AND KEEP FAITH
...The Small Faces, Van der Graaf Generator, George Martin, The Rolling Stones, Graham Nash, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Nick Drake, Nico, Caravan, The Zombies, Kraftwerk, Can, The Beatles, Dantalion's Chariot, Can, Amon Duul II, Kraftwerk, Mashantra, Pink Floyd, Tudor Lodge, Jackson C Frank, Schizo Fun Addict, Alison O'Donnell, Mellow Candle, Head South by Weaving, Stay, The Flaming Gnomes, Vibravoid, Mark Fry, Nick Franglen, Cranium Pie, Us & Them, The Singleman Affair, Hands of Hydra, Califone, Plastic Crimewave Sound, Ogden's Nut Gone Flake, a Yeti and Their Satanic Majesties gathered together and recorded in a yellow submarine with better equipment while grooving with Fruits de Mer Records...
Who I'd like to meet: adds, reviews and comments very welcome...especially from psych, acid-folk, prog rock fans, record collectors, vinyl junkies, record fair organisers, 45's obsessives, record shops (real and mail-order), sixties heroes, casualties and onlookers...you know who you are!
