"You don’t need to look far in Melbourne to discover cutting edge music that’s unafraid to erase the boundaries. For a band that looks beyond mainstream and ahead to a future blazon with creative individuality, Fire Underground are ensuring that our city’s sonic reputation is kept intact.
Within the space of just over three years, Fire Underground have brought a fresh approach to your stock-standard band dynamics. Originally a two-piece, Fire Underground exhibit a soundscape of musicianship that combines guitar, piano, clarinet and drums to deliver a style burgeoning on rock and swing. Now, with a bass-player on board, Fire Underground is smoking the competition in the creative stakes."

“There is something going on here and I’m sure it’s not just me. I am consistently blown away by this band. There’s a bright future here.” - Inpress, Melbourne
The Story So Far...
During their 3 and a half years together this trio (introducing Dan Valentine out front on vocals, guitar, piano & clarinet, Doyle on drums & singing backup and last but not least Ben Hall: bass destroyer) have built a solid live reputation. Formerly a two piece, FU played more than 150 shows all over Australia and completed their first ever overseas tour in late 2006, taking in shows in the US and Canada before heading to Europe to play London, Berlin and Amsterdam and appeared at last years Pushover festival in Melbourne supporting Australian icons Silverchair, one of only two bands to be voted onto the festival by fans.
Drawing influence from everything, rock'n'roll through broadway and combining it with the high energy and intensity of favourite bands like The Hives, Queen and Nirvana, Fire Underground have developed their own style that is highly entertaining to watch live, is powerful but fun and thoroughly danceable.
Fire Underground's high energy shows and wide ranging musical style has seen them play with bands of many genres such as Youth Group, The Grates, The Black Keys (USA), Midnight Juggernauts, Airbourne and Frenzal Rhomb to name a few. During this time they released two EPs which each sold out of their original 400 pressings, received airplay on Triple J and rage and saw the band play live to air sets on 4zzz Brisbane, and Melbourne's Triple R and PBS FM. Their song 'Chase Scene' was selected as the theme for Channel 31's music TV show 'On The Couch', (watched by 200,000 people a week) and featured on indie blogsite Stereogum.com (where it was downloaded over 3000 times within a week)
