Massive props to Len Winstanely for inspiring a lot of the determination behind this band.
And Massive props to Michelle Tilly for totalitarian quality control + art direction.
And Massive props to Andy's mum and dad for being fucking legends.

EP: FLASH BANG BAND Random Acts Of Kindness (myspace.com/flashbangwallop)
When a band doesn’t sound like anyone else, it’s quite a good ploy to keep you listening ...this may just be one of those bands who’ve happened upon a unique sound – quirky accomplished pop without a sneaky ear against the wall of anyone else’s oeuvre. Unique without being willfully difficult, this is most definitely worth your attention. (NC)

what actually is ‘pop’ anymore? I guess my head is still stuck in the days where ‘pop’ was considered to be a dirty word. ‘The Rhythm Inside You’ kicks in as if Blur’s Coffee and TV had been taken and bastardised on a summer’s day. It’s FUN, and I know that I’m safe.
I try never to look at band influences, as it colours your idea of them, but after seeing the Flaming Lips mentioned on their Myspace, the vocals have the same sort of texture you’ll find on ‘Tangerine’ – except more singy. I could easily listen to it whilst working away, come along and join in the frivolities.

SOUNDS LIKE? Ah, we
rather expected to dislike this,
all vomit-inspiring cute band
pics, cooly claimed influences, but before you grab
the pitchfork, they are what they claim to
be, "quirky arrangements,
driving rhythms" etc. We're
thinking that they sound like
Kool & The Gang with one
hand up Paul McCartney's arse... low key, southern English boredom bumping ugly with Steely Dan discards, but mainly because it's [music] that Neil Young just has to cover. The best is saved for last as "Things That Go Bump" run Ten CC by Ray Davies and slop the luxuriously slick and tricky mixture production into that Flaming Lips blender.
IS IT ANY GOOD? They formed less than a year ago, look like they'd struggle to get served at the bar and sound like they've been grafting away for years. Yes, it is and they are good.

'I Want To Better Myself' sounds like they've been perfecting ways to compress the entire Super Furry Animals ouevre into one song while 'Questions' could be the revved up funk soul brother of the Welsh wizards'
'The Rhythm Inside You', ... has some of the best pop whistling this side of Peter Bjorn and John.'

FLASH BANG BAND formed in Brighton, UK towards the end of 2008. The quartet hail from a variety of influences and using their tanking rhythm section, they drive nostalgic melodies and memorable, more often than not slightly wonky songs to captivate audiences.
Going only a short time the band have already wowed small crowds across thier home town of Brighton (and a little bit in London) and are quickly becoming one's to watch.
The band have just launched their own debut ep RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS. You can buy it just below. Its £5. It was recorded in Dorset, mixed in Brighton, mastered in Devon, packaged all over the world, printed in London and then put together in Brighton. Its been fucking awesome making it. The artwork is also bloody fantastic, you really should buy one! :)
