from the site: MARCH 2006: 20 YEARS OF FLAT EARTH!! - fuck you! its been a fucking nightmare, you all suck. march 19th : flat earth recs began 20 years ago to the day, a load of us eagerly folding up rec covers and inserts in my bedroom in newcastle. well - that was too long ago, far too long - 20 years of people mostly being total c*nts has worn me down, all that fake 'diy' stepping stone bullshit - give it up! its dog eat dog and you're on your own, end of.
check the website for a list of recs still in the distro i need to get shot of in order to shut it down:

"Raging fast UK hardcore/punk with uncompromising, blown out, and frenzied vocals complete with intelligent, engaging and well concieved lyrics (a rarity these days!) . Now that the pain of this world has become too great, a convenient collection of all their crucial vinyl jams all on one very listenable disc, just in time. Get off your fucking knees and pick this up" MRR
Boxed In - diverse totality
FERE3 - PLEASANT VALLEY CHILDREN - 'Welcome to Bedlam Valley' Discography CD
Awesome damaged, Flag-influenced painjazzcore racket! everything we recorded on one handy disc.
Incredible twisted mindfuck music, thats what Sam Mc Pheeters said anyway, some review blurb here to let you know how good this is! "Out of the barren wastelands of the late-80s/ early-90s, came PLEASANT VALLEY CHILDREN, unique both sonically and lyrically, a warped collision between early BLACK FLAG, early RUDIMENTARY PENI, and vintage BORN AGAINST. Included are some great critical reflections on the world around us, which are just as relevant now, as they were then. Youve got one chance, and one chance only, to own everything this band ever did, or live in regret for eternity." Andy Shocker (PUNK SHOCKER FANZINE, briefly out of retirement)
- includes:
'Fuck Kill Destroy' LP,
'What the World Needs Now' EP,
'Who Needs Love to Have any Fun' Tape,
compilation tracks and nuff unreleased extras - 40 songs, all remastered, 28 page booklet with cool artwork and writings.

FERE0 - V/A 'MP FREE' - double CDR
just over 2 hours worth of flat earth stuff altogether, something from each release - all remastered and equalized (ie loud!) This was all originally available for free download but I lost the webspace I'd Blagged, so this is the alternative for the time being.

FE 37: SAWN OFF 'The Album' - CD
"26 tracks, features some unreleased tracks from 1998 as well as all of their previously released material. It is an onslaught of aggressive hardcore thrash. The lyrics are angry political ditties about 21st Century life, and the delivery is brutal, ugly and uncompromising. They play some fast power thrash, some slower more brutal material, and some simply ugly sounding noise. Combine all of this together and you get some awesome hardcore. Vicious and mean." (Heartattack)
Sawn Off - insane
FE 36: CRESS 'From Violence to Consumerism' EP
"CRESS have moved on from their minimalistic CRASS approach and onto heavier plains, adding power to their already overcharged generator. Slow, heavy and menacing mayhem riding along the lines of ANTISECT, AMEBIX, AXEGRINDER with a punch of KILLING JOKE" (Fracture)
FE 35: V/A 'YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN' - CD
an experimental compilation with: JALOPAZ, INFINITE LIVES POKE, JAZZFINGER, BLEB, LEOSLAYER, BULLPUP, JERSTICE, SOARTHROAT, DIXIE BLONDE ACTION, STIPETIC, STALINGRAD, HELLFILLER, AMANITA MUSCARIA, JOSHUA NORTON CABAL, BRILLEAUX, CHARLES BASCOMB, ORRIN DE FOREST...
"At last the sonic sedition of Alec Empire and his DHR convention - destroying cohorts is finally having an inspirational effect. Fuelled by the original DIY punk ethic, translated into the computer crazy 21st century, here's a bunch of noise-mongers who've joined the riot. It's stun-guns and samplers at dawn - and this time, it's personal. There's no better place for a baptism by hellfire than the various artists on "You're on Your Own". An unconstrained collection of experimental, electronic and guitar driven craziness, If this doesn't fuck with your head, you're in a coma" KERRANG (???!!!)
Leoslayer - Which One of Us is Moving Faster
FE 34: JOHN HOLMES 'El Louso Suavo' LP / CD
"I'd heard JOHN HOLMES were pretty chaotic, but this is far from that, it's just the heaviest fucking metal around. Sure, it has plenty of twists, off-kilter inserts and even viciously funky bass runs, but at its core are just pure metal roots that have mutated into an incredible pummeling sound, packed with enough grooves and crushing power to floor you. The dual vocals alternately growl and scream the bleakest of lyrics, soaked in a bitter negativity that suit the sound of JOHN HOLMES to a tee. The Flat Earth machine continues to roll on" FRACTURE
Johnholmes - antidepressant
FE 33: HEADACHE - 'Live in Slovenia' - CD-R
HEADACHE were always about doing it live, top quality live set from their final tour, twisted shit - loved or hated with very little inbetween opinion. I love them and miss them.
FE 32: KITO - 'The Long Player' LP
"Flat Earth records have a reputation second to none where the provision of quality hardcore is concerned, and Kito are among the finest outfits to have risen in association with the label. Occupying the exact point where anarcho punk meets sludgecore, Kito unleash an unshakable barrage of guitars that pin you to the wall with the force of a 15 ton juggernaut. Rhythms come doused in brutality, riffs are delivered straight from the gut, and the whole thing is wrapped up so tightly it's a wonder the musicians aren't starved of oxygen. All of which adds up to one potent slab of vinyl." KERRANG (?!?!?!)
Kito - The street of crocodiles
FE 28: SOLANKI - 'BUZZ OR HOWL UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF LEEDS 6' - 10"
"SOLANKI are almost like a homage to the MINUTEMEN, and the fact that they've been able to pull it off with ease is high praise in itself. Spread across these 10 inches is 13 tracks of incredibly tight and jazzy punk, sitting squarely in D.Boon territory and it's just awesome! Haring along at a crazy pace, tight and controlled, yet chaotic and flowing at the same time. Remember when you first heard the MINUTEMEN's "Double Nickles on the Dime"? Buy this and relive that moment. Just fucking great! " FRACTURE This record is the MINUTEMEN and the BIG BOYS playing your backyard BBQ and skate jam. This record is fun." MRR
Solanki - Bureaucracy
FE 25: HARD TO SWALLOW / MANFAT - split EP
"Wasn't so keen on the Manfat track on the recent "Means to an End" comp but these three tracks have won me over to their cause without hesitation. Grinding through their half of this split 7" with a disturbingly dark, malevolant sound, so thick you can suffocate yourself within it. As one of my all time favourite bands of the last couple of years I'm not going to harp on about how fucking awesome Hard To Swallow's side is. Just buy the fucker, already. One of the best split 7"s to come out of any country, anytime." land of treason
FE 14: WITCHKNOT - "Suck" EP (last few copies)
Can't find a review right now but it's reet good stuff.
OLD/OUT OF PRESS ARCHIVE
(work in progress)
all of this stuff is sold out but not too hard to find if you look around:
FERE1 CRESS - 'Propaganda and Lies' - CD
Compiles the 'Monuments' LP, the split 10" with DOOM and the 'From Violence..' 7" onto one handy disc!
this Cd still available from: Active Distribution
FE 32.5 - SUFFER / URKO - EP 1998 - 3000 copies - co-release with enslaved
"URKO first, pulverising, manic and raging brutal hardcore to the bone. URKO take you, shake you, leave you quivering and wanting more. . Superb quality and it's a real pleasure just to freak out to this. Two of their own and a remake of Y.O.T's "I have Faith" where URKO correct it with having no faith and a pessimistic view of things. Awesome stuff. SUFFER: way out ballistic hardcore that will surely fuck with your brain. . Another amazing 7" of un-adulterated hardcore mayhem on Enslaved/Flat Earth. Everyone reading this send your money to these guys, they are what hardcore is all about. Long may it live. Brutal hardcorepunk for the millenium." Fracture
JAS TOOMER R.I.P
FE 31: SCATHA : 'Birth Life and Death' LP (1997 - 2000 copies)
My favourite SCATHA record, continuing where their 1st LP left off.
FE 30: - SUBMISSION HOLD - 'Progress..' CD
"I've listened to this about fifty times already and still don't know what to say about it. SUBMISSION HOLD just seem to have this way of combining two extremes (that of brutal, agonising screaming and that of soft as hell, emotional singing) but while holding it all together with an incredible off-beat, jazz punk sound. Look a little deeper and you'll realise that they also use a flute, trumpet, violin and piano too. Of course that could have well ended up as a recipe for disaster, but fortunatly SUBMISSION HOLD know what the fuck they're doing. Really, it sounds incredible. Oh yeah, and then there's the awesome booklet that comes with it - a beautifully printed 36 page piece of art with lyrics in English, French and German which put SUBMISSION HOLD's politics on show for all to see. " FRACTURE
FE 29 - SUFFER - "Forest of Spears"- EP
"The second, and unfortunatlely last, SUFFER EP has all the power and fuck you of the first EP, but they've opened up their sound a bit to include some more time changes and even play around a bit with soft slowdowns. They succeed without getting wimpy. Overall, this is gritty, fast paced, and layered hardcore with super well-written political lyrics and a wonderful ode to masturbation thrown in, just so you don't think they're always out there smashing the state" MRR
FE 27: DOOM / CRESS 'TEN INCH' (1997 - 3000 copies)
A benefit for the Mc Libel Campaign, and only release on Flat Earth featuring one of my guitar solos! (you should be glad).
FE 026 HEALTH HAZARD / SAWN OFF -split EP
"The last recorded tracks of the mighty HEALTH HAZARD finally get to vinyl. Recorded in 94 these tracks keep up with the rest of their material. Total ass ripping political thrash. If ya haven't heard 'em, this is your last chance, so don't blow it! SAWN OFF speed things up a bit more on their side. Blast beats galore are mixed in with pissed off lyrics about how fucked our world is. This EP is a fucking must get." MRR
FE 25: EBOLA 'Imprecation' EP (1997 - 3000 copies)
My favourite EBOLA slab, and a debut for Nick Enslaved , a highly opinionated band who crammed more into this 7 inch than most bands fit onto an LP.
FE 24: CRESS 'MONUMENTS' LP (1997 - 2500 copies)
After the chaos of HEADACHE this was easy to put out! much respect to Jacko and Bri for making it happen , and Gam for cover folding.
re-issued as part of a CRESS discography CD, vinyl version on Skuld recs of Germany.
FE 23: HEADACHE ' LP (1996 - 1000copies)
This was a total bloody headache alright! The artwork took years! and they decided they should re-record it all, this was after I'd gone and done a test pressing and everything - it was all worth it in the end though, a truly amazing and unique package that features a board game and action figures! discography Cd out now on LIFE IS ABUSE recs u.s.
FE 22.5: LOS CRUDOS 'Canciones Para Liberar Nuestras Fronteras' LP (1996 - 4500copies)
One of 3 or 4 editions of this Lp released around the world, out in time for their one and only european tour, an honour it was to be a part of this project as CRUDOS were one of the, if not THE most important hardcore punk bands of the 1990's
FE 22: WITCHKNOT "Squawk" LP (1996 - 1000 copies)
Fantastic LP - the crust kids didn't get it, thoroughly missing the point. 6 women armed with cello's violins and dustbin lids are way more punk than most spiky male shouters!
FE 21.1: DDI - Ten Inch(1996 - 1000 copies
A Collaboration with about 10 other labels, international co-operation! We had 100 copies. Crazy Italians who Doom toured with over there. Long since split up but Mila is active doing AGI PUNK records
FE 21: DOOM"Rush Hour of the Gods" LP / CD (1996 -4500 / 2000 copies)
Our first CD release! DOOM were a pretty popular band and I appreciate their faith in us. I think we helped to prove that DIY doesn't have to be crap!
FE 20: was supposed to be the OI POLLOI 'Carson?' EP
but after 5 years of waiting for artwork I gave up and returned the tapes
FE 19: EBOLA "Incubation " LP (3000 copies)
Blew me away at their debut gig, originally to be a 7" but we thought fuck it, record the lot!
Covers printed on 13 inch record mailers, and hand screened - the last 'stupid' cover for f.e!
FE 18: SCATHA "Respect, Protect, Reconnect" LP (3500 copies)
All star ex - SEDITION, DISAFFECT, STRETCHEADS outfit. I bought them a carry out, they agreed to do the LP.
FE 17.5 : VR "Dreamstate" LP (1000 copies)
A Collaboration with Genet records of Belgium
FE 17 : SUFFER 7" EP (2000 copies)
Also : U.S pressing on 'Crust' recs of a further 1000 - in time for our U.S / Canada tour summer '96, which finished our short lived band off.
FE 16. 5 : WHIRLING PIG DERVISH 'Three Small One Tall' - LP (1000 copies) '95
A Collaboration with fellow Glaswegians Gruff Wit, Anonymous, and the band, the only Flat Earth release to feature a Lee 'Scratch' Perry cover!
FE 16 : DROPDEAD 'DISCOGRAPHY' LP (2000 copies)
In time for their first tour of europe Spring 95, which I helped book and the start of great friendships.
FE 15 : HEADACHE / RECUSANT SPLIT EP (2000 copies) '94
Originally to have round foldy cover - fortunately I said 'No!' 2 incredibly under-rated bands from burgeoning Bradford scene of the time.
FE 13.666 : HEALTH HAZARD 'Discography' LP (2000 copies)
the whole lot got re-re-released along with all SUFFER stuff a few years later on a Prank Records discography (2000 copies).
FE 13 : HEALTH HAZARD 'TEN INCH' (2000 copies) '94
The plates got destroyed in a fire, unlucky 13!, re-released as one side of discog LP
FE 12.5 : SEDITION / PINK TURDS IN SPACE SPLIT LP (2000 made - plus 1000 on 'Real to Real' '90 / '94)
Originally released by the bands on the 'Real to Real' label back in 1990, after rescuing a load of those copies from damp kitchens and closets in Belfast and Glasgow we went on and re-pressed it, a total classic that shouldn't be an obscurity and money raised went to repay Tony, who'd financed a lot of aborted punk rock projects, and needed his money back.
FE 12 : SEDITION / DISAFFECT SPLIT EP (2000 copies)
In which each band covers each other's songs as well as a few new ones.
FE 11: UNHINGED - 'Resisting the Murder of Self ' - 7" EP (2000 copies)
Nabate Recs did all the work here, Unhinged were their 'house' band featuring Alain and Manu from the label, they went on to make 2 amazing LP's
FE 10 : KITCHENER 'The Price of Progression ' EP (2000 copies)
What a band - I'm glad we captured some of their energy before implosion .
FE 09 : HIATUS / DOOM SPLIT EP (5000 copies) '93
'Monsters of Crust' haha! - the biggest seller we ever did, it just wouldn't end! Some new songs and a cover of each other's.
FE 08 : SEDITION 'Earthbeat' LP (3500 made - 1000 in Hessian Sacks! Spring 93)
Never agree to that Hessian sack shit, half of it ended up on Glasgow walls, the other half in eck's lungs. Our first full LP release, and an LP that had to happen.
FE 07 : ONE BY ONE "Fight" 7" EP (2000 made (additional U.S press of 500 on Gern Blandsten) Early '93/94)
My favourite ONE BY ONE record, and the first with Karin.
FE 06 : DISAFFECT "An Injury to One is an Injury to All" 7" EP
Great new band from a happening Glasgow scene at the start of the Glasgow / Bradford /Liege connection.
FE006 - 012 WERE IN COLLABORATION WITH NABATE RECS OF LIEGE, BELGIUM.
FE 05 : ONE BY ONE 'World on Fire' 7" EP (2000 made in autumn '91)
Me, Micky (fellow flat earth founder) and Alec (went on to help run the label for the following half a decade) doing the power trio thing. Alec traded this and built the distro up while I was in New Zealand for half a year considering emigation. When I returned in spring 92 we'd made our minds up to take the label / distro / band thing on full time!
FE 04 : GENERIC 'Torched' 7" EP (2000 made - spring 89)
GENERIC's last, and most melodic (Leeds line-up) stand, horns and acoustic supplied by CHUMBAWAMBA friends!
FE 03 : GENERIC "The Spark Inside" 7" EP
Dec '87 in collaboration with Looney Tunes of Scarborough. 2000 + copies, first 1000 with red ink, 2nd lot in a sickly orange.
Recorded right after i'd seen MDC, SWANS and CELTIC FROST all play within one week - a severe loss of hearing.
FE 02 : GENERIC / ELECTRO HIPPIES- 'PLAY LOUD OR NOT AT ALL' - LP
Spring '87 once money was scraped up, a co-production with the 'Hippies . 986 made - sold our half in 25 days!!
The Hippies got their side re-released on Jeff's label 'Necrosis' - a part of Earache recs.
FE 01 : GENERIC 'For a Free and Liberated South Africa' 7" EP March 1986, 5 Songs, 2300 made.
Included price breakdowns and Flat Earth's statement of intent (see pics)
