Alex Walker: vocals, piano, guitars, organ, accordion and impossible odds .
. . Drew Grow: vocals, guitars, slide guitar, and unblinking squalor . . .
Patrick Tetreault: vocals, mandolin, banjo, harmonica, guitars and fading restraint...
Influences
Frog and Toad. Sunday School. Compunction. Grace.
Thankfully not marrying your high school sweetheart. Or the one after that.
LSU's This Is The Healing. Juliana Hatfield. Pink Floyd. The Posies. Paul Weller. Peter Gabriel. T-Bone Burnett. The slow songs of Cyndi Lauper (really). The Choir's Circle Slide album was very nice...
Lyrically, I guess what influenced this latest album is seeing relationships changing, ebbing, surging, listing, and threatening to either combust or fade. Somewhere in there is an obtuse little presence of hope and denial, which can overlap quite a bit at times....
Hi. Maybe you're reading this page because you own all of our albums and know all of our songs and have been hoping against hope that maybe, one day, you'd read that we're playing again, have an album coming out, and will be performing live in the immediate future. In that case, this is a very nice day for you.
For the rest of you, our history isn't all that important; we played a lot for a handful of years, then stopped. Now we're playing again, writing again, and hoping enough of you like us again that we can remain in rice and beans long enough to keep putting out albums.
Thanks for stopping by -- check out the songs, drop us a line, and please direct your friends to our music. We'd use some of our marketing budget, but we seem to have misplaced our record deal.
Mr. Walker! what's cookin with you these days? i was hangn out with some peeps in the LBC and someone brought up their admiration for 5 oclock people up last night. i was like oh shizzle! i know that guy! and i went on to shower you with accolades. anyhow, hope all is well! let me know if you have any shows in the future as im home permanently off the road back in school. id love to come support! whether that means playing with ya or coming on out to watch.
kick ass, your music makes me want to eat the skin off of someone's face, and then puke it up and wear it as my own face, so keep rocking;] Hope to roll with you on some concerts!
wow... I have been looking for you guys for years. back in 1997-98 I followed you guys all over the place Seattle to Portland. I went to the CMA collage group (in Salem) and you guys would come play for us. Man The Nothing Venture is still one of the best albums ever. (I still remember the brass flower pot and the car keys on Lunar great times in my life) I still wish there were some of the songs you would play live back then that were not on the albums would be released. I still listen to that CD at least 1-2 times a month I love and miss you guys.
Been listening to Temper, Temper for about a year. I still love the album and find new stuff that excites me everytime I listen. VERY few records have lasted that long wiht me. I'm not even going to ask for seconds yet. I am still tasting and relishing this one.
Glad to hear you are back playing music again. Don't worry about misplaicng your record deal. I thought I had lost my car keys, but found them a week later. You will too. Keep on rockin!
Came to a gig you guys had many moons ago at "Madisons" near West Seattle. Bought a disk and return to listen to it often. My 9 year old (then he probably wasn't born) still sings "fat horse" and "cold coffee" to us occasionally. Still think of the tomato soup and good music from that visit to Madison's. Keep it up and don't forget the impact of music.
Alex, I'm so mad (I know this happens all the time in the music biz...but whatever) I was looking at an indie rock complilation and some dork group named Sonny J wrote a song called Enfant Terrible...what a rip off. Their song is even listed as explicit...I like your tune WAY better. C'est la vie.
glad to see you guys back at work.. I am sure I am not the only one who googles your name every so often hoping to see your old site back up or news you are coming to town, hope you come back to town soon!
Have I been riding the slow train? Took me two years to discover you guys are BACK? I look forward to seeing you in Eugene again, though Cafe Paradiso is but a memory...I guess the WOW Hall is still there. I haven't found much use in going without FOCP as a venue!
Hey, I just thought I should drop by here and say that I am a huge fan, and have been wanting to see a show for some time. If ever you do one, posting things about it would be much appreciated. I'm really looking forward to seeing you guys sometime in the not too distant future! And thanks so much for Autumn. I've been playing it constantly for the last month. It's incredible.
Aftermath is SO HOT RIGHT NOW... for real, my love burns for you all like that of a thousand suns.... put that in your lyrics and you got a sure winner
